There are so many causes which are said to be associated with the aircraft accidents some of which may include the pilot errors, mechanical failures, and sabotage associated with bombing or even shooting plus other failures which lead to the crashing of the craft. Research will be conducted on two airports that is the Kenyatta and Moi international airport in Kenya whereby we will try to collect data on the safety measures which are used in those tow airports. (Allan, 2000) Introduction Aircraft accidents can be defined as the accidents occurrences which are said to happen between the time passengers board a flight with the intention of the flight hence such persons are said to be disembarked in which either the passengers get seriously injured, the aircraft receives damages and lastly when the aircraft is missing completely. Since the age of the birth of the aircrafts, so many accidents have been associated with these flights hence leading to a debate on the causes and the preventive measures which can be taken to ensure that such cases of aircraft accidents have reduced. Many people tend to think that flying is the best means of transport since it is the fastest as when compared with other means of transport even though it is the only means of transport which has recorded the highest rates of fire accidents leading to massive deaths and the destruction of property. (Allan, 2000) Literature review Causes Research was done and it was found that most of the aircraft fires are as a result of technical failures and it is due to the lack of the technical controls that most of the pilots loose control of the aircraft leading to its crash. So you will find that in most of the organizations that deal with the aviation activities lack the basic technical potentials to contact the business hence meaning that the people who are involved say the pilots and the mechanical attendants lack the expected experience hence leading to the crash of the aircraft. The policy which also involves the air crew handling has also led to the many causes of aircraft fires in that since most of them are not usually fully trained. Approximately 80 % of all the aircraft accidents are as a result of human errors. Fuelling is also another cause of such failures in that if the fuel is not well checked by a good mechanics, automatically it will lead to the crashing of this plane. (Allan, 2000) Safety measures Aviation safety has come along way since the birth of the aircrafts to ensure that there are safety measures which have taken place so as to control the number of cases of plane crashing. It is out of the increasing rate of aircraft fires that two major manufacturers of the heavy passenger aircrafts that is that European airbus and the Boeing of the United States have come in to the civilian market with the huge emphasis of the aviation safety equipments. This is because it is known that if an aircraft has a poor recording of having so many aircraft fires, the automatically this will be a threat to the manufacturing industry hence the two aircraft industries have come up with safety measures and that it why most of the passengers prefer using such flights simply because they are more safety. Training is one of the ways by which aircraft fires have been in a position to be controlled. Training of fire fighters has been seen as one of the effective ways of preventing. Fire fighters have done a lot in preventing fire cases and hence are seen to protect the members of the public from these dangers through responding to fire cases plus other emergency cases which occur in the aircrafts. When such fires occur, these fire fighters help in putting out the fires and this is why there should be intensive training so that these fire fighters can put out the fires effectively. Also these fire fighters are the first people to give emergency personnel at the scene of the traffic accident and at the same time these people are usually called to perform other vital activities in such tragedies. The training based curriculum should be established for people and the crew and the instruction refuelling personnel. You will find that it is through this training that the personnel’s will be taught proper plus the safe procedures which should be used when handling such fuels. They are also taught on how to prevent the potentially dangerous situations and the various actions to take in case there is a fire which involves fuel aviation. This is because most of the aircraft fires are as a result of the fuels which are used and hence these people should be trained on the preventive measures to take so that it has ensured that such fires associated with fuel do not happen. (Bruggink, 2000) Some safety devices have been established in the airports and some of these safety devices include the following. One of the devices is the evacuation slides. This is very much important in the airports since you will find that it is through the evacuation slides that the passengers are in a position to exit from an aircraft in an emergency situation. You will find that in case such emergencies happen, the passengers can use the evacuation slides so that they can exit from the flight as quickly as possible hence minimizing the number of deaths of people. Another safety device which has been adopted to help prevent the many cases of aircraft accidents is the advanced avionics and this is a computerized alert system. It is through this device that the pilot in this case can be in a position to know when an emergency are about to happen and hence it is through this alert that the passengers in this case can be alerted so that they can maybe use the safety belts or even use the evacuation slides. (Bruggink, 2000) Methodology a) Research design The research will employ a survey kind of research design where data will be collected from the two airports that is Moi international airport and the Kenyatta international airport in Kenya. This kind of research design will best suited to collect the data since it will give the researcher a chance to collect primary data from the airports. In this regard the researcher will be able to interact with the employees and the passengers of the two airports which will make it possible to understand the dynamic factors of the research by having a first hand experience. One advantage with the survey kind of research design is that the researchers will have a chance of experiencing the culture of the airports and the many safety measures which are taking place is such airports researched in practice rather that getting it from the secondary sources. (Bruggink, 2000) b) Sampling and sample size The sample frame that will be used for the research will be the members of the employees of the tow airports plus the many passengers who use these two airports. In this regard the research will collect data from all the categories of people that are the workers and the passengers in which we shall visit. This is because the research is supposed to evaluate safety in the airports in those particular airports so that we can be in a position to generalize our research from the data we have collected. This will help to make the data collected more reliable and accurate. In the research a sample of 30 subjects will be selected from the sample frame. This sample will include 15 employees and 15 passengers. This ratio will be kept in the selection order to ensure that there is fair presentation of the data. The research will issue a random sampling selection technique in selecting samples size. In this regard, the sample frame will be dividing into two cohorts that is the employees and the potential passengers who use such flights. Then a sample of 15 subjects will be randomly selected from each of the cohorts. (Bruggink, 2000) b) Research tools The research will employ different research tools in order to collect the most accurate and relevant data. In this regard the research will employ researcher administer question and at the same time will employ observation list. These two tools are very important in the research as they will help the research to get the view of both the passengers and the employees and at the same time watch the culture in practice. The question will be researched and administered in order to help the researcher to get some important aspects of data collection including facial expressions which help to capture the emotions of the subject about the topic of researcher. (Carignan, 1990) c) Administering of research tools In administering the research tools, the process will be made as flexible as possible in order to make the proceeds more efficient. Though there will be emphases of the researcher administering the questionnaire, there will be space for exemption as regards making appointment with the top level management of the organization who may find it difficult to adjust their busy schedules. As such there will be mailing the question to the top level managers and having filled and get it later. This will make sure the researcher collects the date in the stipulation time. For other questionnaires, they will be administered by the researcher. Data will be collected over a period of two weeks. First, the researcher will seek for permission to collect data from the origination within a grace period of one month. Once the researcher is given the permission, the next step will be booking for appointment with the management of the organization. This will income mailing of the questionnaire to that manager who will have a busy schedule to administer the questionnaire themselves and the researcher will collect them later. After the research has collect all questions and identified the particular safety devices, the researcher will continue with observing the employees at work in order to assess how some of these safety devices are being practiced in the organization and also to assess their effects on the potential passengers. (Carignan, 1990) d) Data analysis and presentation The collected data will be analyzed in order to make it easy for evaluation. In this regard simple data analysis tools will be used. The data will be analyzed using means, percentages, standard deviation, and others. The collected data will be analyzed and compared to the secondary data from the literature in order to assess the level of motivation of the employees in the organization as far as the organization culture is concerned. The analyzed data will then be presented to the organization and for them to take further action of conclusion and recommendation that will have been made from the research. The researcher will seek to have an appointment to present the result of the study either to the whole board or to the human resource department. (Carignan, 1990) e) Limitations and assumption There are various assumptions that will have been made in the course of the research and there are also a number of limitations that are likely to be encountered. It will be assumed that the selected sample represent the characteristic of the actual population. In this regard the selected population will be assuming to give data that can be attributed to the whole population the airport. It will also be assumed that the researcher will be granted permissions to carry out research in to the two international airports. It has also been assumed that in case the manager is mailed the questionnaire they will fill them and return them in time. (Carignan, 1990) Ethical consideration When collecting data, there are some of the ethical considerations which need to be put in place. Some of the ethical consideration in this case may include gender sensitivity in that it’s quite ethical to ensure that data is collected from both sexes. It is through these that we will be in a position to collect effective and unbiased data. (Carignan, 1990) Conclusion The cases of aircraft can be traced to the earlier attempts at a flight and this is the case when so many people died in a flight test and the launching of a flight when the flight failed to generate enough lift hence leading to the crash of the flight. So the cases of flight accidents are as old as the birth of these flights. Reference Allan, J. (2000): Thermal control problems in military helicopters.
