Globalization Globalization as a new phenomenon Globalization is a modern term yet many people still have the understanding that the phenomena it explains is not new at all. Globalization is an incarnation of continuous processes that have taken place over the centuries. Indeed, globalization is a new phenomenon as jotted down by many writers whose audiences include reader and protesters. The race towards globalization is more competitive in an era where the most powerful nations and organizations in the world are striving to complete their integration process. It is believed that developments of the years have triggered great changes to the point where the universe has entered a new globalization. While the previous era of globalization came up around falling transport costs, the current globalization is linked to the decrease in the costs of telecommunications, which make it easier to propel the world higher and make it a global village 1. These technologies have made developing nations to become big producers other than just relying on the trading of their raw materials to the west and get finished products in return. All these developments showcase a world full of selective understanding in which the main market players will be more coalitions of conjuncture and the traditional alliances built around a strategic interest point. In essence, globalization has led to the creation of more opportunities than harm. The benefits do outweigh the harms largely. The essay seeks to expound on how globalization has affected the word at positive level 2. The concept of globalization has remained a topic of interest, with great debaters focusing much on it. Its proponents have marked it as an exquisite phenomenon to happen in the world while its opponents criticize it strongly as a component linked to create harm rather than improving the existing conditions. One thing is well notable: that despite the challenges globalization faces, there is a great impact it has played on the lives of millions of people in the world3. Those against globalization may present diverse negative effects of its existence, such as environmental degradation, inequality in economic patterns, loss of jobs and other catastrophic events. However, a good number of developing countries are benefitting immensely from the vice more than before, in terms of economic growth, sustenance of culture and other angles. First, globalization has created many employment opportunities especially in developing nations. Many companies are reviving their operations especially with reference to ICT sector. There is an emergence of a new market and those who are able to tap it reap great fruits. This has partially solved the burden of youth’s unemployment in developing countries4. The communications sector is undergoing great changes daily. There is a need to buy sophisticated equipment to meet the needs of a changing world. In all this, jobs opportunities are made. |The investment triangle flows effectively as developed countries tends to invest in the developing countries. The effects of foreign trade are well evident. The improving in communication and transport systems has had positive implication to the market systems. It is easier to transport goods to far countries within a short time. Communication has also improved, and this has had tantamount effects to the management and financial systems. It is easier to control the market while in the office seat. International trade always does improve the economies of the involved countries. There is creation of an efficient market, a component that every investor will always strive to achieve. The concept of willing buyer-willing seller is strengthened. Additionally, competition in the market sets in, as there are several producers of similar goods. When competition ensues in the market, the ultimate beneficiary is the consumers. There is regulation of the commodities prices. The quality of the products is also captivating. The target market can choose from diverse options. The cropping up of many competitors dictates that each shareholder has to watch over their products to remain competitive. Consequently, there is an expectation of creativity and innovation. The developing countries are the biggest victims of innovation, with reference to the fact that they are striving to make thing look better than before. The spread of innovations is rapid. For example, the spread of Western antibiotics in India and the adoption of traditional Indian practices in the western world. Concisely, that has been made possible through the spread of education in the world. In the recent times, one does possess the freedom to make the choice of the place he or she will seek education from. It happens without hindrance. Studying in the most prestigious and well-equipped education institutions is just a matter of affordability. For example, the American managers did seek better practices from Japan and did utilize it in improving their systems. Education does unlock all the ignorance leading to creativity and innovation. Therefore, it is pretty important to globalization. Most importantly, such inter-country movement has led to the spread of culture. One can easily perceive and note any flaws in their culture. They then adopt the better values, assuming the primitive ones. All this does reflect in terms of musical culture, language, and diet 5. Most significantly, there is a promotion of peace and consistent security. It is worth noting that globalization has linked to interdependence of different countries, especially when they align themselves in trading blocs. One country depends upon other one in the market. In such cases, it is quite rare for such countries to attack one another. There is a desire to maintain peace due to the close trading ties. Legal systems have also changed. Prosecution of criminals is very easy. It is easier to seek justice via the international criminal courts. Globalization has led to a common understanding between the security agencies and crime perpetrators cannot escape. The aforementioned advantages of globalization depict its significance to the day-to-day operations and activities in the world. It would be a mere understatement to assume that it does not play a pivotal role in economic, social and political development of most countries sin the world. These are just but a few of the advantages it does pose. Globalization remains a critical component of development without which many countries cannot do.
