Legalizing Prostitution The expenses of the criminal justice system are increasing day in and day out, heavy amount of money is spend on prisoners who really do not need to be restricted to jails. One activity that is considered as illegal by the US is Prostitution. Prostitution should be legalized, to increase the revenue and the money in the treasury of the criminal justice system, to decrease expenditure of the criminal justice system and because this activity is legal in different manner. Prostitution should be legalized to decrease the expenditure of the criminal justice system; the prisons are over populated with prostitutes (Weitzer 150).

Prostitution does not become restricted if prostitutes are imprisoned; rather it leads to increase in secrecy of the way the activity is conducted because prostitutes start fearing that they will be put behind bars. By legalizing the business, the government can increase its sources of earning revenue and taxes. Sex is a natural behavior and those who desire to have sex and those want to sell sex will not stop, therefore the act should be made legal and tax should be charged from these individuals.

This will increase governments spending and decrease government expenditure on imprisoning prostitutes. Prostitution is even taking place in the business of escort services, but escort services escape the penalties levied on the act of prostitution. This is because escort services operate while not being held responsible for the activities that take place between the customer and the escort, what ever these two individuals decide to do during their time together is not regulated by the company.
