Analyze them, summarize them, and report your summary and how the ads may relate to the chapter concepts. (If you would like, feel free to do an analysis on nontraditional personal ads in addition to the traditional ads.) I. Introduction Six ads were analyzed from Los Angeles personal ads—three from men and three from women. It was hoped that by conducting this research, it would help analyze love and romantic relationships from the standpoint of people who are both looking for love. It may also pique the curiosity of people who are not actively looking for a relationship, but might be averse to such a notion at this time.
Here we will cover the desire of age ranges for men and women, desired qualities that men and women want in a potential partner, and an analysis of the ads overall. II. Desire of Age Ranges (Men and Women) None of the people in their ads mentioned what the desired age range of their potential partners would be. This was found to be not entirely surprising, since people are a little bit more liberal about age gaps, but it was particularly interesting people seemed to be almost nonjudgmental on this point.

The third man was a Jack-of-all-trades who described his physical appearance, his preference for marijuana, fine dining (specifically, sushi and wine). He sought someone who was into the arts, had similar qualities, and preferred a picture in the reply. The women were a bit surprising in their ads, as they were quite brief. The first poster mentioned her physical appearance, her interest in getting a date, and intimating that she was ‘discreet.
’ She was looking for someone who wanted her to spice up his life, to be someone’s ‘playmate,’ and would only be interested in meeting if the man showed her his picture first. The second female answering the ad was very specific about men being able to be any race, but not over the age of 36—while the poster did not provide her own age. Rather, she did give her physical description. She wanted her man to have a car and a job, and someone who was either athletically fit or slim, and also someone who was fun and who wanted an intimate relationship.
She also didn’t want someone who was ‘all about sex 24/7’ and ‘wouldn’t cheat.’ She wanted someone considerate, too. If the man was Black that would be considered a plus (the poster did
