MSN - (Concentrations: Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner), Post-Master's Certificate - (Concentrations: Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner) offered by Felician College. The MSN and Post-Master's Certificate programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the New Jersey State Board of Nursing. Frontier School of Midwifery & Family Nursing - Distance Education MSN and Post-Master's Certificate Programs Offered: Certified Nurse Midwifery (accredited by ACME), Family Nurse Practitioner, and/or Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner (both accredited by the NLNAC). Though not required, upon completion of my program, I should become nationally certified as an APN in your designated specialty. I may then apply for certification to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or other APN specialty in Nevada (Nursing School Degrees, n.d. & Nevada State Board of Nursing, n.d.). To obtain my license as a Family Nurse Practitioner in my state I have to fill online on Nevada State Board of Nursing website. All applicants must complete two fingerprint cards (Form FD-258) provided by the Nevada State Board of Nursing (the Board). Only if I fingerprint in Nevada, I may choose to have them submitted via electronic transmission. If I download an application from the Board's website, fingerprint cards will be mailed to me upon receipt of my application in the Board office. If I request an application by mail, fingerprint cards will be included in that packet. I must use the fingerprint cards provided by the Board (Nevada State Board of Nursing, n.d.). I must fill up the form very carefully by providing all my information. Qualifications for Nevada Licensure are as I must be graduated from an approved school of nursing with a nursing certificate (LPN), or a diploma or nursing degree (RN), I passed the NCLEX licensing examination, I have a U.S. Social Security number, I have completed and submitted fingerprint cards, and the Board has received and cleared my fingerprint reports. Regarding scope of practice I may become Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Nursing Assistant. Function as Registered Nurse is as independent or dependent and interdependent functions, I may have to assess and evaluate health status of groups and individuals, collect objective and subjective data analyze, report and record data, validate, refine and modify data. As a Licensed Practical Nurse I have to work at the direction of RN, APN, licensed physician. I may work as licensed physician assistant, or licensed dentist, I may contributes to assessment of health status by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data. My duty will be of observation of conditions or change in condition, signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status. As a Nursing Assistant, I have to work at the direction and under the supervision of RN or LPN. I have to collects data related to health status by collecting, reporting and recording basic objective and subjective data. I have to observe for change in health status and signs and symptoms or deviations from normal health status (Nevada State Board of Nursing, n.d.). As a Registered Nurse I may get more and more opportunities as delegates to and assists staff in implementing care, delegates/assigns duties as specified in rules and regulations. I may have to consider complexity of care, educational preparations and facility policies when delegating or assigning care, I may remain responsible for the acts delegated or assigned. I may teach nursing theory in educational programs when qualified by education and experience. I have to assist personnel/students who are supervised to develop and maintain competency. I may teach and exemplifies nursing practice based upon knowledge,skills and abilities. I have to Give direct, individualized care or assigns functions according to education and demonstrated competence, supervise persons to whom nursing functions are delegated or assigned. I have to provide leadership in formulating. I may be interpreting; implementing and evaluating nursing careobjectives and policies. I may function as circulating nurse in operating room and direct and evaluate quality of nursing services. I may evaluate nursing personnel. To obtain prescription privileges in my state I have to place my practice question, according to Nevada State Board of Nursing (n.d.), in writing using the criteria listed below. I have to forward my request to: Executive Director, Nevada State Board of Nursing, 5011 Meadowood Mall #300, Reno, NV 89502. I have to be sure to attach copies of nursing journal articles from my search. My request will be placed on the next available agenda for the Nursing Practice Advisory Committee meeting. 1. I have to state the practice question. Example: "Is it within the scope of practice for an (LPN, RN, APN, CRNA, EMS-RN) to do . . ." 2. I have to tell how is this in the best interest of the consumer (the recipient of the nursing service) 3. I have to describe the current trends, standards (community, state, and national), nursing research, data and rationale that support this request. 4. I have to describe the impact on the nurseincluding how the scope of practice will be expanded and whether the practice would be considered independent, interdependent, or dependent. 5. I have to describe my view of the overall economic and manpower impact this practice would have on the State of Nevada including the impact on nurses, consumers, and the health care industry. 6. I have to propose the standardized procedure of this practice. 7. I have to describe and analyze the risks, benefits and alternatives. 8. I have to describe the education components and/or requirements for initial and on-going competency. 9. I have to describe the relationship of this practice to current and previous practice decisions, statutes, regulations, and advisory opinions. 10. As an LPN I may , pessary, NG tube, oral gastric tubes, postmortem enucleation, respirator, complementary therapies. I have to sing my name at the end of the prescription with my license number with validly below when I prescribe medications. According to Klein, Tracy A.(2008) RN, MS, WHCNP, FNP the National Provider Identifier (NPI) is a unique identifier number that applies to many types of healthcare providers. Unlike other numbers, such as the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number required to prescribe controlled substances, the NPI is not restricted to prescribers, institutions, or licensed independent practitioners. She further elaborate that depending on where my work and the type of patients I see, as a registered nurse I may be required to obtain an NPI.
