Leadership refers to people who can bring about changes in other people. Organizations are characterized by the unique culture that is inherent in the overall working of the organization. Discussion of leadership concerning large organizations is as important as that of small ones for the simple reasons that the leaders within the organizations, not only provide intangible stability among the employees and facilitate integration with the system but they have been known to promote a collective vision of the organization and provide the necessary impetus to the employees to strive towards it. Leaders create visions and goals whereas the managers and administrators work towards achieving them.

The various aspects of the interactive elements of the organization, which may comprise diverse ideologies and personal conflicts of the individuals, work together to produce a cohesive output representing the organization's unique objectives and goals. An organization’s culture is developed over some time with shared learning and becomes an intrinsic part of the work methodology characterized by the stability provided by the system and the integrated approach of the workers. It is, therefore, difficult to dissect an organization’s culture in a short time.
Though it is difficult to change an organization’s culture but good leadership is known to make visible changes in it. Leadership encourages innovation of ideas and adaptability to changes. Hence, leaders, who are visionary and are endowed with effective communication skills and cultural understanding, can influence the cultural identity of the group within the organization thus facilitating changes in the organization’s culture to adapt to the changing environment.
