This instrument is meant to collect data from teachers who work with students having reading difficulties.

How much is your experience of working with students who have learning difficulties?

Diagnostic assessments, interviews with individuals who are familiar with the student (e.g., parents, teachers, counsellors, therapists, and tutors) or conducting action research can help know the reading difficulties of the students.

Reading problems result from children's inability to recognize and break up phonemes, the tiny sounds that makeup language, and further, to connect those sounds to written letters.

Struggling readers especially need explicit and systematic instruction in both phonemic awareness and phonics in the beginning.

Listening exercises are an integral part of developing reading skills.

The practice of asking children to read aloud with guidance and feedback, sometimes called guided oral reading, helps develop reading fluency.

Books that interest a student such as motorcycles, cars, animals, sports, music, etc., can help develop reading skills.

Can comic books or magazines that focus on a student's passions be handy in this regard?

Books on tape can be interesting for a student who is reluctant to read books.

For some kids with learning difficulties, getting books with larger types can be helpful.

When we read with kids for enjoyment we try to stimulate their great imaginations.

Assistive technology has the potential to enhance the quality of life for students with learning disabilities by providing them with a means to compensate for their difficulties and highlight their abilities.

Students with learning disabilities who receive reading instruction in small groups experience a greater increase in skills than students who have individual instruction.

To evaluate students’ performance the following strategies be used:
- Permitting untimed testing,
- arranging for oral testing,
- Using short, frequent quizzes,
- Permitting breaks during tests.

For any reading program for students with learning disabilities to work well, parents' support at home is essential.
