Jesus Christ once said, "Let us go somewhere else - to nearby villages - so I can preach there also. That is why I have come in this world" (Mark 38)1. This statement clearly shows "who was Jesus and what was his mission to this world". While the multitudes in Capernaum would have heard Jesus with pleasure, many others had not individually heard his message; therefore, it was obligatory for him to "preach for good news of the sovereignty and kingdom of God to the other parts of the world also (Luke 4: 43)2.

Thus Jesus turned from the fame that was his in Capenaum and stretched his ministry to other areas in Galilee. He considered himself to be bound by a obligation to do so. He said. "I must preachto the other towns also". Christ recognized his mission as Messiah to state publicly the good news that God had honored his covenant promises and had sent Messiah to the world. The fact that Christ recognized an obligation to preach was evidence that he had been commissioned to preach, and God's commission conveyed authority on the One commissioned.

This was not a mission he undertook himself but was one to which he had been appointed; and that appointed conferred authority on him. Thus Jesus Christ traveled throughout Galilee both teaching and authenticating his word by the miracles that he performed (Matt 4: 23-24)3. As a result, multitudes were attracted to him, not only in Galilee but in Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and the region across the Jordan and the whole world (v. 25). We see the widening influence of Jesus as a result of His words and his mission.
