Name of the student: Course Tittle: Name of the professor: Date 1.0 Introduction In my working place, four departments exist include finance department, marketing department, production department and quality department. Personally, I do work in the marketing department. There are seven employees in marketing department, I being the chief marketing officer. In the marketing department, the team consists of four women and three men with distinct role. The team is responsible for marketing the company product, creating product brand, sales and promotional activities of the company product. 1.1 Group vision To be one of the best marketing team in the world able to give our consumers the necessary information about the product we offer in the market. 1.2 Objectives of the team i. To increase sales by 30% annually ii. To reduce overhead cost by 10% iii. To increase market share of the company by 5% annually iv. To introduce new Product into market v. To meet customer needs 1.3 Activities of the group The team activities include the following; i. Planning for marketing of the company product ii. Organizing trade fair and exhibition iii. Planning for sales promotion iv. Branding of the company product v. Advertising the company product vi. Budgeting for the marketing departments vii. Any other activities as recommended by the management Over time, we have built a strong team in the marketing department with specific aims, objectives and goals to achieve. 2.0 Identify and describe the strategies you would use to make sure that This section gives the description of the strategist that can be used in building a team to achieve specific objectives 2.1. All members of your team give their input into the team’s plans, decisions and activities. Some of the strategist I used to motivate my team members to ensure that they both participates in the decision making, planning and team activities include; Clear purpose: In order for everyone to participate in the decision-making, there must be a clear purpose. Clear purpose refers to the condition where group members agree on the group’s goals and objectives. Group goals will automatically act; as a spark group effort by providing a clear direction and all will be motivated o participate in the discussion. Setting realistic goals: This was the first strategy since it is a great excitement to the team members if each member has a realistic and objective that he or she must complete by the end of the project. While assigning each member a duty to perform, his or her input is required as this is a motivating factor when it comes to teamwork. Allowing chance for consensus decision making within the team, this occurs when groups allow all members to express their opinions and preferences openly and to discuss any kind of diversified opinion that might exist within the group members. Allowing for open discussion and contribution will motivates members to actively participates in groups activities as this will be assure way of recognizing their idea making them feel part and parcel of the team members. Shared leadership this will happen when such roles as contributor, challenger, facilitator, controller and collaborator are carried out by the group members rather than by the group leader only. Shared leadership will ensure that each and every group member consider himself or herself a leader hence will actively involves and participates in the group discussion and activities. 2.2. All members of your team have the same understanding of the team’s purpose, and each person’s roles and responsibilities Good listening skills among members- this will reflects the willingness of the group members to each other and accommodate each other. This will enable the team members to achieve interpersonal understanding hence facilitates interpersonal sensitivity. Team members will always actively seek out listening opportunities that will ensure open channels of communication of the team goals and objectives communicated to each and everyone within the group. Open communication will also allow team members to have understandings of goals and objectives. Open communication occurs when the group members take advantage of communication opportunities, openly share their feelings, provide timely and relevant feedback and share relevant information with each other in the group. Clear roles and assignments given out to the group members, this will enables them to have a clear understanding of each other roles and assignment thereby preventing role conflict and continuous disagreement within the group. Document and describe policies, procedures and strategies that could be used to make sure that everyone in your team. 4.1 Takes responsibility for their own work and results within the team One of the strategy of making the team members to be responsible through preparing them to be independence as every group members will increase their probability of having pre-requisite skills necessary to perform their duty and task. It can either be achieved through formal training, on job training or through coaching. This will enable the team members to handle their work with more confidence and produce required result. Another important strategy is to use management style where as a manger, I will be able to encourage, coach and empower other team members, which will in turn boost their self-confidence and self-esteem. Developing informal kind of relationship among team members creating an environment that can be characterized by a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Under these conditions, interpersonal interactions among team members are sought and maintained. Since members feel comfortable with each other, they will be more accountable and more responsible for their actions. Clear roles and assignments given out to the group members, this will enables them to have a clear understanding of each other roles and assignment thereby preventing role conflict and continuous disagreement within the group. Set targets for every group member that they have to accomplish this will be very crucial and important in enhancing accountability among team members since each and every one will be struggling to accomplish its duty. 4.2 Helps other team members with their work when they need it Give diversity approach where group members are able to tolerant different style of behavior among the group members. The approach will be very useful in understanding different kind of individual characteristics and behavior hence it will be a source of encouragement among team members. Networking among group members as it reflects group members ability and willingness to link up with others either internally or externally hence helping team members to share different values and skills to achieve the set goals and objectives. Willingness to share allows team members to benefit from the knowledge, experience, emotional support, energy and tools by each other. 4.3. Participates in the activities of the whole team and takes responsibility for its results. Having clear roles assigned to each other, it will help in preventing conflict within the team while enhancing accountability at the same time. All-inclusive approach where team members are given adequate recognition and respect will make the group members to feel comfortable and work with team members. Willingness to share allows team members to benefit from the knowledge, experience, emotional support, energy and tools by each other. 5.1. Set a positive example in your own teamwork for others to follow As a team leader, I have managed to set the pace of completing work in time giving others challenge in proper time management when it comes to group work. Another important contribution is the sharing of my personal experience with customers other group members to help in developing marketing plan. 5.2. Supported other team members and helped them to improve their performance. I assisted the team members to developed budget by introducing weakly budgets and coming up with variance that has greatly improved the accountability and transparency in our team. By each member preparing its own report, the filing the last report has become simple and straight. 6.1. How often, and in what situations, would you give feedback to your team members? In our team, the frequency of reporting to team manager is weekly where the result is being reported. The need to consult team members is done as frequent as the need arises. The team members are important in encouraging one another and always avail themselves whenever need arises. 6.2. What ways would you use to give feedback to your team members? Through written report Through budget variance Through oral presentation 7.1. Draw an organization chart for your workplace. 7.2.
