Nike: A Powerhouse Nike: A Powerhouse Against: There are a number of considerations related to why it would be best for Nike to adopt a conservativeapproach to business. One of the major considerations is the Nike brand. The case study indicated that Nike’s logo “Just Do It” and its brand identity were major contributing factors to the company’ success over Reebok and Adidas. If Nike were to adopt a more aggressive strategy than it is possible that the company’s reputation, embodied in this brand identity would be compromised.

Additionally, Nike’s current business model has proven largely effective in addressing the needs and demands of its current consumer audience. While change is undoubtedly necessary in any business, aggressive change may be detrimental to the company’s business model. - Would adopting an aggressive approach result in Nike compromising its brand integrity and competitive position in the market?For: There are additionally a number of considerations related to why it would be best for Nike to adopt an aggressive approach.

The main challenges Nike received from Reebok in the 1990s were a result of Nike not anticipating a growing consumer market in certain demographics. If Nike were to continue to rest of its laurels and only produce products within this spectrum of understanding the company potentially would lose ground to company’s that are able to capitalize on emerging trends in the industry. Additionally, Nike’s past success was based on its ability to foreground new methods and develop symbiotic relationships with suppliers.
