Running Header: Leadership Student’s Name: Instructor’s Name: Course Code: Date of Submission: Leadership Every organization is successful as a result of two notable factors. The factors include the human and mechanical aspect of the organization and their coordination. During the process of coordination, there is a lot of teamwork involved. This is because there is no human being who has the ability and capacity to carry out all the activities successfully on their own. Each and every person has special gifts, abilities and talents. There is no machine that has the capacity to conduct each and every activity on its own (Avolio 2003). The coordination of all these people and machines and what they can do ensures that an organization is covered at each and every point. This ensures that it is possible for the organization to meet its strong set mandate. This paper aims to look at the effects of teamwork at Emirates Fly Company. It will concentrate on how teamwork has led to the growth and success of the company. It will also look at aspects of leadership. This is because of the realization that each and every great team requires an effective leader to coordinate team activities (Avolio 2003). Teamwork has been defined as very many things by very many people. The aspect of taking into account the role that each person can play in a team and letting them do it, is teamwork. This is because the joining of various skills, people and their personalities creates a team. The analysis of what they can do and how they do it, ensures that the aspect of teamwork is created and enhanced in the organization. Teamwork gives each and every individual a chance to grow in the organization. Emirates Fly is made up of different people who work in different capacities (McGolden 2008). They are effectively and efficiently coordinated to ensure that they can deal with the expectations of the company. The pilots, technicians, control team and hostesses all work in one formidable team. This ensures that they have the capacity to come up with the requirements of the company. The dedicated balance of the above mentioned people ensures the systematization of events, duties and responsibilities. They then come up with different opinions, strategies and set ups that work well with the organizational structure of the company at all times. This team works hand in hand with their managers to ensure that they have all the needed skills that will ensure efficient problem solving. Every organization encounters many problems at each and every step. The problems need an organized structure like the one at Emirates Fly to deal and resolve the problems (Montana 2008). The general process of ensuring that problems are solved is based on the aspects of segregation of duties that each employer and employee has. They take time in the company to identify what needs to be done at each and every step of the way. This ensures that all those involved are given an active chance to contribute to the organization and its overall growth. This utilizes their potential at each and every point in the organization. Management experts stipulate that a good organization is one that makes good use of all its employees and their capacities (Avolio 2003). This will give them a chance to improve their thoughts and contributions to the organization. Teamwork at Emirates Fly has ensured that it is possible for many of the people in the organization to be empowered. This is through constant communication, training and segregation of all the duties involved. This is because the aspect of teamwork ensures that all involved parties have the ability and capacity to learn from each other. This eventually ensures that all the organizations like Emirates Fly have a well structured and organized organizational culture that is improved time and time again. The aspect of teamwork is encouraged at Emirates Fly through regular team building sessions, seminars and educational training sessions (Montana 2008). This is one of the reasons as to why the company has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. This is from its inception to its current status of a powerful airline company that is giving existing ones a run for their profits and efficient service delivery. A team without a good leader has absolutely no organizational benefit. Leadership is basically the coordination and analysis of the strategies mapped out by the team. This creates an avenue for the leader to ensure that it is possible to talk and channel out all routes to ensure organizational success. At Emirates Fly, a leader should have the ability to be hands on with interpersonal characteristics. This is because as he or she deals with the team, he or she will understand them and what they go through. Interpersonal traits are very essential in any successful leader. The team should have the faith and ability that they can approach and talk to the leader in any instance and situation. This will give them an active chance to come up with ideas, policies and opinions and discuss them with you. A dictator is one who just yells out specific orders that he or she wants carried out. He or she does not pay heed or emphasis to anything that the team might feel or want to include in the details. It is prudent for a leader at Emirates and any other company to take time to listen to what the people he or she is working with have to say. This is one of the traits that ensure that a leader takes time to listen to the people around him and what they can do. This creates an emotional attachment and bond between the leader and his or her team. The bond is based on the professional ability of all those involved and it creates a platform for the people involved to deal with each other at a personal level (McGolden 2008). The leader should want to know whether all the members of his or her team are in the best form physically, spiritually and mentally to deal with the task ahead. A good leader is one that takes time to encourage and motivate his or her employees. Emirates Fly has the lowest staff turnover in the industry. This is because it is necessary to look into certain aspects of motivation at each and every point. The aspects of motivation could be monetary or emotional. This means that a leader should ensure that his or her employees get well paid, on time and they have perks that come with certain duties and responsibilities. This will ensure that the employees are interested in what the company or organization has to offer. In many instances, there are very many employees who work in shops and restaurants that they cannot afford to shop in or order some food. This is because of the high cost that they cannot afford to foot. At Emirates, a leader can introduce certain perks that the employees can benefit from. They could get slashed prices during the holiday season for them and their families. This will ensure that the employees work extra hard to enjoy this privilege. Profits may be the main idea as to why people go into business, employees and collaborative team work ensures that it is possible for the profits to be amassed. Training, education and research are some of the things that the employees should be exposed too. There are very many current issues that the employees in any active team need to know about (Avolio 2008). The Emirates Fly Company is one company that works under hazardous environment. There are very many issues that relate to aspects of terrorism that plague the industry. It is imperative for a leader to ensure that his or her employees are well sensitized in respect to the issue. This gives the clear cut picture that the leader cares about the safety of his or her employees at each and every step of the way. There are other issues that arise from modern health threats that include HIV. It is essential for a leader to organize the forum where his or her team members can be sensitized about workplace safety and all the hazards that may be experienced at each and every point. A good leader is a connection between the management team and the employees. Each and every organization should ensure that they have the mechanisms to coordinate the leaders and the duties of each and every employee. This is because the strength and coordinated efforts of the leader will be reflected in the way that the organization carries out its duties and mandate. A leader is the glue that strengthens the efforts of each and every team member (Avolio 2003). It is crucial for this to be done at each and every stage to ensure policy formulation, evaluation and consulted efforts at each and every step of the way for the company or organization. The performance of the team lies with the unique ability and commitment of the leader. A successful leader translates to a successful team and the other way around. This needs to the growth and sustainability of the organization (Avolio 2003). References Avolio, BJ, Sosik, JJ, Jung, DI, & Berson, Y, 2003, Leadership Models, Methods, and Applications.
