Management Part Human resources are very important to an organization to the point that they are referred to as the most important asset in the organization. One of the reasons behind this is that they determine the profitability of the organization through their work as they are involved in doing the tasks that would propel the organization to the height that the management wants to realize. They may also represent a competitive advantage for an organization if the management of an organization undertakes its mandated role of establishing a satisfactory working environment that ensures that the employees are satisfied with their jobs which increase the probability of them being motivated. Here, the growth in satisfaction of the human resources is reflected in an improvement in productivity where high productivity is directly associated with growth and profitability of the overall organization. Moreover, innovations in an organization are also highly dependent on the human resources and their creativity that is nurtured by the human resource department. Organizations should find quality human resources through rigorous processes of recruitment that involve interviews and background screening. The best recruitment methods may include internal promotions but since the organization may be attempting to acquire a new set of skills, it may opt to use a referral. Another highly reliable method is the recruitment of graduates through college job posting websites that result in highly motivated employees fresh from college and willing to learn. A job description is one of the most crucial documents that an employer needs to have because it determines productivity and prevents lawsuits. A detailed description concerning a position is given that helps in attracting the most appropriate individual for the position. In addition, it helps in performance management, employee development as existing employees attempt to acquire a promotion, compensation, and recognition. With regard to the HR process, job descriptions clarify as well as enhance communication between the management and the employee. This is because they support almost all employment actions such as promotion, hiring, and compensation. One of the best modes of evaluation is performance appraisal. A reliable performance appraisal system ensures that the employees are aware of what is expected of them and is undertaken at least once per year. The goal of the overall appraisal process is to help the employee to get an idea concerning where they are as compared to the previous period of evaluation. While the evaluation process allows an organization to provide feedback to the employees and offer positive criticism of their work, they are also used to identify the areas that require improvement. The evaluations should be realistic and consider individual employees while evaluating in addition to concentrating to evaluating their performance instead of their personality. Part 2 The main issue discussed in the video is body language and how much it determines people’s outcomes. I agree with the argument raised that judgment that people make concerning others is mainly founded on their body language. This is true especially when attending an interview. Body language is one of the many factors that interviewers look for because it indicates confidence with what one is saying. This is why those that are confident when doing an interview have a much higher chance of getting the job as compared to those that do not show the confidence in spite of qualifications. The best way to explain this is through how the other person feel about us when we make certain expressions. This is because, in most instances, nonverbal communication says more than we are willing to reveal. Through this type of communication, people get a certain feeling about us that could be either positive or negative. It is also true that nonverbal communication governs how exactly we feel about ourselves although we may be trying to say otherwise verbally. This is the same issue with undertones that communicate more than the actual communication we are attempting to pass along. It is clear that nonverbal communication reflects what individuals are unwilling to share verbally especially because they want others to get a deceptive side of themselves may be because they want to get a job or another favor. The message in the video is fake it until you become it. It is clarified that one can actually become what they want if they have the will to fake it. This is because it prompts the development of confidence at what one intends to become. This is also true because when a person works towards achieving something, no matter how difficult it seems, they can achieve it as they become used to doing it. The video also explains that our minds have a critical role in changing our bodies in the same way that the body changes the mind. The body may change the mind when one does power poses that make them garner more confidence, which reflects to the mind becoming more comfortable with a situation. The mind changes the body through the production of more testosterone, which invites positive-ness and confidence. The individuals with higher levels of testosterone have a higher capability to take risks because the hormone makes them powerful. Body language, with specific attention to power posing, has the capability to change lives because it can lead to enthusiasm, confidence, captivation, comfort, and feeling passionate. The main concept here is that the body changes the mind while the mind changes people behavior that in turn causes a change in the outcomes, preferably, for the better. I agree with the overall concept, and as the video maintains, tiny tweaks can be responsible for big changes. This will impact my future decisions as I now have an idea that can help me in achieving my long desired goals. With confidence and knowledge provided by the video concerning body language, I have adequate information that can help me not only in winning job interviews but also establishing a life characterized with positives. I will ensure that I foster confidence even in the most challenging situations because the outcome is attractive and could be surprising. Part 3 Without a shadow of a doubt, I agree with the video on the establishment of a safe organization with regard to employees for the reason that it boosts morale, cooperation, trust, and ultimately productivity of the entire organization. It is true that organizations face dangers on a daily basis that could range from economic problems to aggressive competitors that they cannot control but when they control the environment within the organization, success is almost inevitable. Specifically, the management can establish a habitable environment for the employees by ensuring that they are able to exercise their own ideas that could lead to creativity and ultimately innovation. Innovation can in turn lead to a competitive advantage that all organizations strive to realize. This is true especially when considering the application of the most appropriate leadership styles such as the participative style where the employees have reliable channels to communicate with the management and are given a platform to exercise their ideas. Besides, other organizations also reward productive risk taking. As the video maintains, it is the sole role of the management to ensure a safe environment because when employees fear the management, realization of poor results is also inevitable. The organization becomes weak if the employees begin protecting themselves from the management due to the establishment of an unsafe working environment. On the other hand, when they feel secure, cooperation improves and they are usually willing to sacrifice for the survival or the long term gain of the overall organization. This would be against the dangers that the organization would be facing such as competition. The overall aspect the video attempts to emphasize is allowing the employees to have opportunities for growth that can not only be achieved through development but also being given a chance to try and fail. Failure ensures that the organization would never try to solve the subject problem using the problematic route and a step closer to finding a solution. When the employees are allowed some extent of freedom, they even propose more coaching, which the organization can offer for the long term benefit. When other issues come up or the employees are facing issues trying to solve certain issues, the organization can opt to coach and support the followers. I also agree with the idea that leaders sacrifice money to save the people in the organization, which prompts the employees to do the same for the sake of the organization. The informed contained in the video will have profound effect on my future as I attempt to become a leader. This is because I would like to establish the most effective environment that would foster cooperation and teamwork so as to beat competition. To do this, the information regarding an organization where the employees have some freedom of expression would be very important. In addition, I would also like to see employees and the management willing to sacrifice for the sake of mutual benefit and eliminate a situation where the employees follow predetermined rules, in spite of the situation, because they do not want to lose jobs. Part 4 To me, positive leadership has various characteristics beginning with commitment. Here, commitment means that all individuals are willing to invest as much of their time as possible to realize the goals set ahead of them. In addition, positive leadership is the form of leadership that is governed by values, integrity, and ideas that are connected to the goals of the organization. This is because such values are critical towards the overall image of the organization. The values are also responsible for establishing a motivated workplace. The other characteristic of a positive leadership is the establishment of a culture geared towards the well-being of the employees but not one that is money minded. The former leads to the establishment of a safe environment that facilitates development and creativity due to the delegation of task and distribution of freedom among the employees. Moreover, positive leadership is associated with achievable goals and acknowledges the importance of employee contribution towards the continued performance of the organization. Personally, I feel that my leadership ability requires some work to achieve the most anticipated goals as I have learnt. My leadership capability, at present, would be affected negatively by my trust issues. A productive environment requires the leader to allocate the employees some freedom so that they can exercise their creativity and this could lead to surprising results as it can cause the discovery of a new way to complete tasks that could become a competitive advantage. On my side, I feel that I have to foresee a task so that it can be completed as required. This is one of my major weaknesses that I would require to work on so as to ensure that my leadership capacity is at its optimum. With regard to strengths, I am well versed with leadership style and aware of how to alternate them according to situations. Particularly, I would apply the situational leadership style that requires alternation of participative and authoritative styles of leadership for the realization of the best results. With respect to the future, I would balance management and leadership roles through the application of research theories according to situations. When required, I would be available to the employees so as to help them in dealing with some challenging tasks. I would balance this with management skills by application of task delegation skills. This is very important so as to complete tasks concurrently. It would also be appropriate to mentor others so as to prepare them for taking responsibility of tasks. I would also accomplish this through listening to other ideas because these could have a critical role in providing better ways of balancing leadership and management. Moreover, I would embrace flexibility and change according to times. This makes sure that an organization remains attractive to not only potential job suitors but also customers who play a critical role towards the accomplishment of goals since they provide the market. I would also establish a system that would go a long way towards controlling the balance between management and leadership. With these in place, the organization would succeed in establishing a reliable balance. Read More
