Article Summary This article emphasizes upon a need for everybody ranging from a child sitting in his bedroom to a president making conversation witha government official in the president house to be watchful and careful about what they say because what is uttered from the mouth can get recorded anyway. People share their personal information with their friends that might anytime turn into foes and expose the information. Our personal profiles are accessible to government agencies. Nobody is secure.
This has many negative implications. For one, the diplomats may not want to be very honest in their discussions with the bosses as it may be accessible to the public. It is we who have to establish limits because once out, our control over the information is lost, and we are exposed. Thesis statementPeople are exposed to the threat of being exposed to the world in the present age of networking, so everybody needs to be very cautious in his/her speech, conversation and sharing of information.Issues discussedIssues discussed in the article include control of privacy and effect of social media on politics and personal life of people.
Social media has drawn the control over personal information out of the hands of people. This has tarnished the reputation of many political leaders in the past. Private photos getting leaked can cause life-long trauma. Critical analysisThe author has identified correct implications of the security threat imposed by social media. I particularly consent with him when he says that it is we who should be careful in the first place in our manners, conversations and sharing of information. References:Younge, G.
