HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT POSTGRADUATE COURSE Personal Statement Name Date Personal Statement My interests to pursue a postgraduate course in human resource management at Middlesex University have gone beyond due to the high skilled lecturers available at the institution. Given an opportunity I will further my studies at this institution where I also studied business information technology. Middlesex University London is one of the most favourable institutions found in Hendon, North West London in England. The institution is located within the historic county boundaries of the Middlesex where its name comes from. Middlesex had been restructuring its academic schools in order to fit closely with the needs of the industries. At Middlesex University I had been studying Business information technology which has been successful all the way round. I have found my learning session easy to adapt to where I have acquired adequate skills and knowledge to manage my day to day activities in business information technology hence the Middlesex University institution will fit my postgraduate course learning. I have chosen to undergo a postgraduate course in human resource management at this institution because I would like to equip myself with knowledge and skills in regard to employees and their rights as depicted in human resource. Since I studied business information technology at this university, I came across different strategies that are applicable in human resource as business study entails coverage of a wide area that will be useful in different organizational departments. Human resource management postgraduate course will help me to become professional human resource personnel where I will be given an important schedule in organizing people so that they can effectively perform their activities. This will therefore require viewing people as assets rather than costs to an organization. Looking people as assets is one of the contemporary human resource management and human capital management the knowledge I will acquire from the study of human resource management postgraduate course. I was first interested in studying human resource management while I was on a placement in one of the organization I attended. Many employees in that organization had no ideas of their rights hence they were subjected to many social injustices in the organization. When I saw the working environment these employees were working upon every single day I realised something was not going on well. The urge to fight for employees rights came upon that is why I I'm applying for a postgraduate course in human resource management at the Middlesex university where I recently completed my business information technology education. The role in studying human resource management is only to correct the injustices employees are undergoing in organizations and also to gain knowledge and skills to be aware of the employee rights so that I will not be subjected to any injustices like the one I came across at. Human resource study The study of human resource at Middlesex University in London where I also studied business information technology will help in the suggestion of management team on how to strategically manage people as business resource from the knowledge and skills that I will obtain them from the study of human resource management course at the institution. The knowledge and skills obtained will include managing recruiting and hiring employees, suggesting employee training and coordinating employee benefits and developing strategies. In other war human resource management professionals become consultants but not workers of any isolated business function, their role is to advice managers on many issues that relates to employees and how they can assist in achieving organizational goals and objectives. At all levels it has been seen that organizations managers and professional human resource consultants work together to develop employees skills. Therefore this knowledge will be gained through the study of postgraduate course at the Middlesex University in which I have opted for a chance. In studying human resource management at Middlesex university it has been clearly shown that business information technology is one of the specialization that needs to be interlinked to another category for an in-depth facilitation of activities. As a qualified business information technologist, having knowledge in human resource management will be good since it will bring about the introduction of other systems and programs that will facilitate human resource activities easier. The interlinking of business information technology and human resource management will be influential since I will be able to multitask in an organization department thus posing a high affinity for job retaining ability. By studying this course I’ am the right student to be selected to further my experience in business concepts. As a professional business information technologist I have already encountered the principles of human resource management since in the study of business information technology course we were entitled to an all round topics that are applicable in the business field. It is then that I studied the roles and importance of human resource management for business. It will be my humble obligation to gain much more information from the human resource management as I intensify my skills to serve utmost departments when employed. There I’m the right student who needs to be selected to study human resource management postgraduate course at the Middlesex University. In response to what I have done outside my classroom, I was able to visit organization with an aim of understanding how human resource management strategies work. I furthered this experience with research from books, journals and newspaper so that my experiences at the organization will appreciable. The duties of the human resource personnel were mostly dealing with employee concerns and benefits they need to get to be productive in the organizations. Therefore I’m the right student to be selected to study human resource management at the university since I have already advanced in the levels of education by having knowledge in business information technology and also the general concepts acquired through research and in learning business activities. Studying human resource management at the Middlesex University will be relevant to my course since I need to gain a lot of knowledge about organizational employee concerns and the way they benefit as I intensify my knowledge and skills. The experience I have gone through in organization to show how human resource consultants go about in their daily activities in caring for employee concerns and advising organizational manager on how to go in their businesses. This reflection of the role of human resource consultants has helped me to develop my interest to study human resource management course from the same institution i had done my business information technology course. This course too it will also be relevant to my career since it is a professional course at the end of the study I will become a professional human resource consultant. The study of human resource management will also reflect on the experience I have gained through research and visiting organization to have a glimpse of the roles and importance human resource management consultants pose in organization. The study of business information technology also had given me an opportunity to gain adequate knowledge on human resource management since it also contributed to the creation of awareness by introducing the concepts human resource through the study of business. My skills My skills have been nurtured in a responsible way that I pose that value and attributes in demonstrating transferable skills. The study of business information technology has facilitate with various skills that include the ability to work independently, teamwork, good time management, leadership, problem solving, organizational skills and listening. Listening skill is the ability to have concise effect to give time to each and every individual who ought to give out information. Having this skill influences a lot on the understanding nature where it will depicts the decision one has to take or offer after a keen listening of information being stated. Team work is another skill that most personnel’s are required to have since none of the employees will be working alone but rather they will be cooperating and working in groups with other employees. In human resource the possession of leadership skill is essential since as a professional human resource consultant I will be subjected to offering advice through laying out strategies whereas also to control employees for a successful and productivity organization. Organizational skills and good time management skills are also applicable to me since I studied business which is an attribute to conduct activities in the human resource sector. Among these skills I posses, it has been a successful journey throughout my career as I even to intensify them by studying human resource management at Middlesex University in London. In expanding of the most relevant skills I acquired in my career team work skill is the most essential skill to engage in. The role that I was entitled to in building of the team work is being the team leader. As a leader I strongly coordinated the activities of my group to achieve the assignment classification we were subjected to. The lesson I learnt in having team work skill is that there is always a possible solution within members hence team work should be applied to generate ideas. Another skill that I have is the ability to solve problems. Problem solving entails the determining of solutions to queries that one is subjected to. In my classroom I’m the most influential person whom I have got knowledge and skills to answer questions correctly. Whenever there is a query that needs to be analyzed critically it was submitted to me. With the adequate knowledge to solve queries in my class I later developed the skill to problem solving. Therefore having these skills in team work and problem solving are the greatest and relevant skills I have hence the study of human resource management at the Middlesex University will be made easier since some of the concepts used are already available on the fingertips. Analytical and critical thinking Undergoing through university it is all about critical thinking where I'm able to think independently and to be analytical so that I can be able to demonstrate that studying hard will be a big plus point. As a holder of business information technology, the knowledge and skills I have acquired has ensured me that I remain on the forefront in any aspects of education. The use of technological advancement to research is one of the contributing factors I acquired as I studied business information technology. I have been able to analyze and criticize information that I obtain from my research work. Having gone for a placement in an industry in an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) department, I have been able to work under pressure so as to meet the organizational goals and objectives. The placement offered me a great opportunity to exercise analytical and critical thinking strategies while dealing out with the queries that require adequate concepts to determine their solution. As a business information technologist, analytical and critical thinking are essential hence one should have these skills. In one encounter of assignment I had to think critically by analysing on the possible implementation of a software program in the organization. Failure to analytical and critical thinking would have subjected the organization to a loss with also legal consequences to answer hence both analytical and critical thinking are some of the relevant skills I use to solve acquaintances. Distinctive about me Being an all round person, I have been able to attain numerous goals in my life. The knowledge i acquired at the Middlesex University from the study of business information technology has helped me gain my satisfactory accomplishments in many sectors. Having satisfactorily developed a program by the use of programming language it will be my ability to study human resource and also look upon the differences in software applications being used in that field. I will be ready to analyze these software programs and the use of a joint educational knowledge from human resource management and business information system I’m sure there will be concepts needed to develop more substantial software programs in the human resource field. Being a technological gig, spending most of my research time on technological aspects it will be my long time waited to learn all the principles of human resource at the very same college I went through while studying business information technology. Inadequate time will lead me to interlink the concepts between business information system and human resource management at Middlesex University in London. Therefore the distinctive feature about me is that, i like to develop new strategies as well as facing challenges in my day to day activities hence the in the study of human resource management will help me acquire the skills being taught in it. The events that has shaped me to apply for human resource management post graduate course at Middlesex university is that, while I was on a placement in the information communication and technology department it happened that in that organization there was no clear strategy as to where human resource offices are doing their jobs appropriately. The human resource department did not know their roles since it was a newly formed department in the organization. Due to this situation it also prompted me to further my education and study human resource management so as to acquire a job placement at the same organization I went for internship program. The people that I worked around with during my placement at the organization also plaid an important role that convinced me to apply and study human resource management apart from business information technology knowledge I studied earlier. These employees were subjected to many injustices which they persevered within the organization. These injustices included poor working conditions, late payment of salaries which were substantial minimal, long duration to promotional of hard working employees and they also lacked decision making as only the top level management were the one to make decisions for the organisation. Therefore all of these social evils employees were subjected to in the organization prompted me to equip myself with knowledge from human resource management. Gaining human resource management will help me to know my rights as an employee. My intellectual influences The intellectual influences that have shaped me to study human resource management as a postgraduate course at Middlesex University are from books, writers and professors at the institution where I studied business information technology. Writers had been playing a constant role in understanding how organizations treat their employs inconsiderately. The social evils in which most of the organization puts their employees in to them had been researched by writers; only through them these social injustices employees are facing in organizations has been revealed. It is through writer that I was influenced to study human resource management so that I can acquire knowledge in knowing my rights. Professors have also contributed to the intellectual influence in ensuring that I study human resource as my postgraduate course at the university. Their constant lectures have revealed how the life of being an employee is. Many organizations are seen as cost but not assets in an organization in which human resource management has advocated for organization to see employees as assets and not cost. The intellectual influence from the lectures by professors and also the written books have plaid a major role for me to study human resource management course thus seeking a chance at Middlesex university the same institution I studied business information technology. Long term plan In studying human resource at the Middlesex University in London besides holding certificate qualification course in business information technology, I would like to further and advance my skills too in the field of human resource. Qualifying for human resource as consultant will be one of my desired levels to achieve in education. What I’m looking forward at the Middlesex University is the highest accreditation I will get at the end of my study. Middlesex University is one of the highest ranked universities in England offering different courses which students can choose to study. I have chosen Middlesex University which is also my former university where I studied business information technology. In this university i already have a glimpse of the location, technological advancement in the university, education level of lecturers, efficiency of study materials at the library and also how the credit qualification based on the level of education one is in hence my study plan at this institution will be achieved.
