Personal development planning Personal Development Portfolio Goals Action Success Criteria Target To complete my master’sdegree with a fast class honours by ensuring that I do well I my course work. .in order to achieve this, I will be required to attend classes regularly ad not miss any. I am required to be punctual with my assignments in addition to finding a good tutor to guide me through my research work Securing part time lecture jobs is easy once one achieves a good grade at master’s level according to the culture of the university. I will be able to be given few lecture hours and assist in teaching in my department. This is encouraging and will give me substantial chances of securing a job The course work will be complete by May 2013 To look for a good non-governmental organization to fund my research work In order to graduate honourably, one is required to do a good research and defend his/her thesis. This requires funds, which are not always available. In this case, I will have to prove to an organization that my research is in accordance to the vision of their company and aiming at improving science and technology in the country. Attaining this chance will give me a good chance to d my research work. I will also be able to get first hand skills and opportunities. I will also be able to improve m communication and social skills within the company of my research. This will widen the scope of my knowledge and I will be able to learn various challenges individually. The course work will be over by September 2013 To secure a job at research institutions and to be a part time lecturer Apply for lots of jobs in my field of study. Engage in internship and volunteer jobs within my field of career and my dream working stations. Engage in 8 hours lecturing within a week in the University to improve my teaching skills and solicit for a job while still seeking for a job I will be able to attend most interviews. I will be more than ready to prove myself that I am worthy for those positions. Securing these two jobs will be a dream come true. I will be able to put my practice at work. I will also be able to improve my communication status. My living standards will also improve, as I will be under payroll. I will also be able to meet various opportunities in my field of operations January 2014 To purse a Doctorate degree in Agricultural education and Extension Applying for a doctorate degree in agricultural education and extension After securing good grades at master’s level, it will be easy to pursue my doctorate degree. This includes applying well within the stipulated time. I will also ensure that all the necessary requirements are available on time and above all that, I am qualified for the position to further my studies. Using charts, diagrams and other illustrations to support person to person(s) and written communication (competent means using accurate images, appropriate to the topic and audience) Level: 6 Evidence on which your assessment is based I will emphasize a gain that using my educational background and my daily activities I use charts , diagrams, and electro-communication aids in serving my students therefore I am capable of communicating effectively using non verbal tools. d). For this reason, I am able to differentiate and integrate various information necessary to fit students at different levels. 2. Working with others a). Planning complex work with others, agreeing objectives, responsibilities and working arrangements (competent means ensuring clear goals and realistic objectives for working together, clear responsibilities and taking on appropriate tasks within agreed resources and providing progress reports). Level: 6 Evidence on which your assessment is based I work with groups of student’s every day. I socialize with teachers and other stakeholders together with staff of the institution daily. This experience has helped me to be a team leader. I am able to organize and influence people towards achieving certain objectives that bind us mainly since we have common objectives and needs to be fulfilled. b). Seeking to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships over an extended period of time, agreeing changes to achieve agreed objectives (competent means: organising and carrying out tasks so you can be effective and efficient in meeting your responsibilities and produce the quality of work required, establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships, agreeing ways to overcome any difficulties, exchanging accurate information on progress of work, agreeing changes where necessary to achieve objectives) Level: 5 Evidence on which your assessment is based: As indicated above, I am a role model to my students and therefore I will strive to be the best. With good communication skills, I am able to influence my colleagues and engage in activities that aim at team building. This include going for retreats. I am also capable of influencing development by initiating projects that aims at improving the society in general. 3. Improving own learning and performance a) Agreeing targets and planning how these will be met (competent means: seeking information on ways to achieve what you want to do, identifying factors that might affect your plans, using this to agree realistic targets with appropriate people and planning to manage your time effectively) Level: 8 Evidence on which your assessment is based: b) Taking responsibility for your learning by using your plan and seeking feedback and support from relevant sources to help meet targets (competent means: managing your time effectively revising your plan as necessary, seeking and actively using feedback and support from relevant sources to help you meet your targets and selecting and using different ways of learning to improve your performance, adapting approaches to meet new demands) Level: 7 Evidence on which your assessment is based: As a trained teacher, I use objectives in teaching. I can apply this knowledge in real life and set objectives that I am t achieving within a specified period of time 4. Problem Solving a). Defining the problem (competent means: identifying, exploring and establishing main features of the problem; and agreeing conditions for a successful solution) Level: 7 Evidence on which your assessment is based: It is easy for me to define a problem and get to the solution. This is mainly by engaging in discussions trying to find solutions while engaging other parties to contribute and bring out their suggestions. b). Identifying solutions (competent means: considering a range of solutions, selecting an appropriate solution and reviewing the process for identifying solutions) Level: 6 Evidence on which your assessment is based: I am capable of digging out solutions to various problems. The major secret I use is the ability to stay focused and remain positive. c). Carrying out solutions (competent means: devising a plan for carrying out the solution, obtaining agreement for required resources, carrying out the plan and reviewing progress) Level: 6 Evidence on which your assessment is based: Applying solutions is the best process of solving a problem since it provides one with results. I am capable of doing this by simply applying the solutions already decided d). Evaluating outcomes and methods (competent means: evaluating outcomes against agreed conditions for success, evaluating methods used, reviewing implementation plan and checking procedures) Level: 7 Evidence on which your assessment is based: The process of education requires that one evaluate the process of seeking knowledge. From my experience, I am capable of finding out to which extent objectives are being achieved and offer suggestions for corrections to give room for future success. Reflective statement on presentation series Personal development plans is an important aspect of life that most of us tend to forget and disregard. This process has helped me in defining my goals and scope of my knowledge. It has helped me by becoming more organized and focussed for the future. I am now capable of stating confidently what I want to be in future. It has always been my dream to attain a doctorate degree. With PDP I find everything very possible unlike previously when I considered it as the most difficult and time consuming task. I am also very confident with my communication skills and enjoying my studies while still seeking for a job. Being provided with teaching hours at the university is also encouraging as it makes me feel like a lecturer already. The above skills are because of various people that have helped me through their skills. Despite the harsh economic conditions the world is experiencing, I have been able to be encouraged and taught various ways of pursuing for jobs. Various presentations by other lecturers have also helped me by improving my emotional intelligence. I am now more focussed than before. I am also now more positive than before. I have developed more communication skills and I am more capable of empowering others with information. Application of the above learnt skills has gradually improved my chances of passing my master’s degree in addition to attaining good sponsor for my project work. I am no longer afraid of making mistakes since I am now aware that we learn from mistakes. Ii have also learnt of various ways of organizing my CV in a better way that will attract employers.
