Differences in Beliefs about the Causes of Health Disparities in Black and White Nurses Elham Kamali HSCI 313 13 November, Introduction. There are belief differences about the causes of health disparities between two nurse groups. The African American nurses focus on external factors. The Caucasian nurses focus on internal factors, gene research. The variances in the causes of healthcare differences precipitate to divergent healthcare processes.Brief summary of the article. The article discusses the beliefs variances of two nurse groups (Chen et al., 2013). The discussion focuses on the variances in the health disparities.

The African American nurses focus on four major causes when dealing with medical doctor and community discrimination issues. The Caucasian nurses focus on genetic variables to determine the health disparities. The differences translate to different healthcare cultural competency skills trainings. The Article Reflects Good Management Practice. The principles in the article reflect good management practices. The African Americans correctly focus on the external factors in the pursuance of their healthcare activities (LaVeist, 2011).

External activities affect the patients’ health. Consequently, resolving the issue of external healthcare providers enhances healthcare services. Implementing programs, improving communication and reducing discrimination in society resolve the disparities.Similarly, the Caucasian nurses focus on the genes. Gene research helps hasten the body’s recuperation process. The process indicates that some illnesses are triggered by certain gene formations. By focusing on rehabilitating the genes, the patient’s health improvement is hastened.

The White nurses focus the “inner factors that are uncontrollable cause disparities (Chen et al., 2013. p. 275)”. These same nurses do not acquire external information in the patient rehabilitation process. The Caucasian nurses believe the patients’ genes triggered the ailments (LaVeist, 2011). I feel this is an important healthcare management article. The above article is important to the healthcare management process. By knowing how the African Americans think, the disparities can be address.

By knowing how the Caucasian nurses think, disparities can also be address. Better understanding of the disparities between the two nursing groups will enhance the patient care outcomes. If the gene research shows that the patient’s health cannot be cured, the nurses accept the gene research findings (Chen et al., 2013). Further, the differences lead to variances in efforts to improve health conditions (Chen et al., 2013) For example, the African American nurses will focus on resolving the lackluster service providers’ services.

Consequently, the African American nurses will focus external factors such as “more information inputs, empathy and support (Chen et al., 2013. p. 275)” to alleviate the healthcare situation. The African American nurses’ focus on the provision of different quality medical treatments to various race groups, lack of healthcare programs fitted to the high risk minority groups, societal discrimination, and lack of research on specific ethnic groups. Conclusion. Summarizing, there are variances in the beliefs between the two nurse groups.

The African American nurses focus on information inputs, empathy and support factors. The African American nurses rely on outside variables. The Caucasian nurses rely on gene research. The Caucasian nurses rely on internal variables. Overwhelmingly, the variations in the causes of healthcare differences metamorphose to different healthcare intervention processes.Reference:Chen_et_al. (2013).
