CT Program should be nationally recognized [School Affiliation] CT Program should be nationally recognized Computed tomography is a program whose importance is increasing day by day. With the advancement and inclusion of technology in the medical field various courses are now introduced for the improvement of medical profession in general while radiology in particular. CT scan is a procedure which has a unique importance for the specialist belonging from the areas of neurosurgery and radiology.

These specialists can only provide efficient and effective services unless and until they have the required human resource to operation the CT scan machine. Therefore it can be implied that CT technicians have a sufficient demand in the medical profession (Cognitive Science Society (U.S.), 1994, p. i). When it is established that radiological technicians have a good scope then it also suggests that the degree programs should be pursued by these technicians so that they can perform their work efficiently and effectively.

JRCERT is an association which believes that bachelor degree should be the minimum level of education which should be pursued by the candidates aspiring to be technicians. Certificate programs do not impart sufficient knowledge. There is a high risk associated with the medical profession therefore technicians should have an ample knowledge in order to deal with any challenging situation. Certificate program can suit to those who are already working in this profession and they need to polish their talent in specific area of CT program ("DoST Developing Program to," 2006, p. NA). The degree programs of CT should be certified by JRCERT because it is a specialized field.

The CT professional require knowledge which can only be imparted through certified degree programs. As far as certifications are concerned they do not have much relevance and JRCERT should not recognize such certificate programs. Certifications do not cover the whole syllabus therefore degrees should be given due importance rather than going for certification in CT programs (Swanson, 2005, p. ii).
