Unmet Needs:
- Family Support while handling stress.
- The education program is not ideal for handling stress.
- The psychological needs of individual students are not met as outlined in the therapy.

The unmet needs are impacting the population at Bergen Center for Child Development. The people affected most are mostly the students. These are those who seek therapeutic services from the school’s therapist. The number of students affected, for instance, by the education program is about ten. The ones affected by family support are about thirteen. This number is high and reflects the apathy on the side of the family members in providing support. There are two cases of students whose individual needs are not met by the program at the school.

The above-mentioned needs are not yet to be met by any department in the school. Consequently, it is important to come up with a workable strategy to work them out.

The following needs assessment focuses primarily on the Bergen Center for Child Development. In particular, it focuses on the families’ difficulties as well as the stress related to that. In the needs assessment, several meetings were conducted in the company of the participants. The participants were mainly the parents of the students as well as the therapists who dealt with the students in their daily lives. This was mainly conducted through interviews. The parents are mostly college-level educated. The therapist is a qualified psychotherapist. The performance of the clients is therefore guaranteed.

From the interviews with the parents, there were many findings about students' needs, families, and stress. The greatest area of need is the family support that these students are accorded by their families while handling stress. The educational program that the children go through is quite demanding and occasionally puts them under undue stress. That was the opinion of most parents.

The program seeks to highlight the therapeutic deficiencies at Bergen School. The rationale behind it is that there are some unmet needs which make it important for such a program to find solutions to the psychological problems of the school’s population. The institution tries to accord its students with the best education system it can offer them. This current system has not been detailed in terms of trying to find solutions for the problems arising (Hiatt-Michael, 109).

From the above discussion, it comes out quite clearly that the program is quite relevant to the site which has been selected.

Objectively, the program seeks to address the inadequacies of the present psychotherapy program at the school. The preliminary plan needed for the program addresses the unmet needs and goals of the institution. Families and stress are the main issues that affect the students in the institution. These issues mainly affect the students, not their relatives. Any help that is offered should primarily target them. This should seek to influence their characters positively. Consequently, any care provider in institutions should be aware of the predicaments of the students who are the target group. The care providers, if not aware of such information, would be inadequate in providing their services. Parents are also part of students’ lives. However, some parents fail to accord their children the close monitoring and attention required. This partly contributes to the dwindling number of students who are motivated in pursuing academic excellence at the institution.

The expected environment is the school environment. Consequently, the anticipated participants are the students, parents, as well as the therapist.

The resources that are provided should help in the process of its study as well as implementation. A new system needs to be put up to deal with these unmet needs and provide solutions for them. This will enable students to receive better services, thus enabling them to grow and learn like other children. Students receiving the services they require as per their condition will bring about improved academic performance thanks to the provision of required equipment and documented education plan that will serve that particular child.
