Therefore we can conclude that the Chi-Square is not statistically significance hence null hypothesis is accepted hence rejection of the alternative hypothesis. In summary, there is no relationship between the Tick sales and the Snowfall. Therefore, the management should not consider any purchasing many tickets during snowfalls as there is no connection. The analysis was done on 80 employees. From the result, age to the number of weeks is 1 to -761 while weeks to Age is -761 to 1 showing inverse relationship between the two factors that is they do not move in the same direction (Holbrook and Jackson, 1996). i. Hypothesis Null hypothesis if there is a relationship between age and weeks H01: There is no relationship between age of the employees and the number of week’s they work. ii. Recommendation from the result From the result, there is an inverse relationship between age and the number of weeks the employee works, there the Human resource manager should look for more younger people to reduce the employee turn over of the company as the older an employee is, the fewer the number of weeks he or she can work and the younger the employee the more the number of weeks he or she will work. This can also be shown in the scatter plot below: Figure 1.0: Relationship between Age and Weeks Employed Question three a) Kind of people to participate in the focus group includes Local residents: this is because one of questions to be asks in the focus group discussion is whether there is demand for the coffee product in the area. Local residents will form the immediate target market hence need to include them in the focus group. Petrol attendance: they are the people who interact with the people who are getting in and out of the petrol station. When the visitors came in, they are the people who are readily available for questions by the visitors hence they know the immediate need of the people of the area. Petrol station management: they have the information concerning the rules and regulation concerning business establishment in the area hence they will be useful in giving information concerning rents to be paid and terms and condition of operating business in the area (Holbrook and Jackson, 1996) Local leaders: they will provide information like security of the area and where to source both human resource and raw materials used in the area. Business expert: will help in providing information concerning business trends in the area and the future forecast of business performance. b) Importance of homogeneous groups Homogenous group of strangers is the most suitable for any focus group. Homogeneity will help to level the playing field and helps in the reduction of inhibitions between people who may have never seen each other again after the discussion (Goss, 1995). c) Screening criteria to be used There are five major steps to be followed when carrying out the focus group discussion. Purpose: What is the purpose of the focus group discussion, this must be established first. Why: the organizer must answer the question as to why the focus group discussion is organized How: how should it be done to achieve the expected results? Cones and weakness: what are the benefits of this method of study over other methods and what are the weaknesses Reality check: what is the viability of this method to be used? d) Major questions to be asked i. Is there demand and market of the product? ii. What are the potential competitors and the possibility of making profit (SWOT) Analysis Question four a) Could an in-depth interview be conducted via the internet? Explain Yes it is possible to carry on in-depth interview online. This is because whether you choose to run the inter a structure questionnaire online chart based on one on one basis or live on webcam interview, using a group quality data, you will be able to uncover new insights and be able to deliver immediate result as per the requirements (Flores and Alonso, 1995). Online interviews are one of the great ways to capture the attentions and opinions of hard to reach individuals and also time poor professionals. They also enable the researcher to instantly capture and review to-line insights which can be used by management to guide decisions concerning product development. b) Identify two advantages and one disadvantage of this procedure over conventional in-depth interviews Merits of Online Interview i. They are providing immediate feed back as compared to conventional in-depth interviews more so when one is using webcam hence the researcher can easily communicate with the respondent without travelling or arrange for meeting (Adam et al, 2008). ii. It can also be used to reach hard to reach managers and poor professionals iii. It is most convenient and most affordable research methods Demerits of Online Interview i. Using emails one may ignore the questions asked and not provide answers as opposed when they were face to face. ii. The respondent can also decide not to answer the questions as per the guide lines and it does not provide the right platform for further interrogations c) Circumstances under which use in-depth interviews will be preferred over focus groups? When there is no budget constrains then the in-depth interview will be preferred over focus group since the focus group are cheap while in-depth interview are expensive and involving. When the target group does not exist of strangers then in-depth interviews will be preferred over focus group (Flores and Alonso, 1995) Focus group should not be used in anything other than research but use in-depth interview In-depth interviews can be used as part of a mixed method research strategy hence where mixed method is required it will be used over focused group like complementary way of doing surveying); the same may be assumed about focus group References Adams, Anne and Cox, Anna L.
