I have been interested in acquiring knowledge and achieving degrees from various reputable institutions for the success in professional life. Knowing the importance of knowledge and education, I am opting for the Doctorate Program in Psychology at Carlos Albizu University. The basic aim that drew my attention towards acquiring this doctorate is the course’s compatibility with my job nature. My past experiences revealed the important place of psychology in the world today. I expect to acquire knowledgeable concepts, information and tactics to improve my planning and development skills through which I can serve people for the betterment. There is always a room for improvement and I feel that nothing but education can fill the existing gap. By participating in the educational program at the university, I would be able to polish my existing abilities and would learn to use the new concepts in my practical life. This doctorate grabbed my attention when I completed my Masters in the field of Psychology from the same university. I have ever since worked on my skills and have served the community by working in different organizations. I have completed my Bachelors and Masters in the field of psychology and have attained relevant knowledge that can help me to pursue a degree of doctorate. This course will help me in attaining the understanding of complex patterns of psychology along with new ideas and theories. In today’s era of globalization, it is important that one has firsthand experience in multiculturalism and I have achieved this objective by studying in a multicultural university previously. Ever since i attained the degree of masters i have used my time effectively to explore the world and work with people who are homeless and addicted to drugs. It has helped me to learn the behavioural patterns of different people as the field of psychology teaches us. I expect to acquire knowledge on the issues related to the field of psychology in all aspects. The political, social, environmental and economic issues are somehow related to the field of psychology and i believe that with the right knowledge i would be able to serve better to my field. Knowing the value of the degree that will be awarded from Carlos Albizu University, I expect to get a reputable post in a well known organization. The university carries great importance in the educational field and with the experience of the faculty i think that i would be able to excel in my field. The students learning at the university enjoy the flexibility of the learning environment and ease of learning in a friendly manner. The teachers, students and other staff are all linked by the strong bond of communication and regular interaction. The environment that the university provides is an additional benefit for the students. The planning techniques being taught and the developmental lessons given are not merely based on theory but may be seen within the educational campus. The routine, timings, course progress, teachers’ schedule and class hours are all part of a planning to run a big university like Albizu University. The motivation and assessment criteria being set by the university also leads to the expectations of higher achievements and greater efforts on the part of students as well as the teachers. I expect to integrate in this learning environment and prove my abilities in the educational field. The reason for choosing Carlos Alibizu University is the goodwill it has earned through years of excellent teaching. The high achievers being qualified for degrees from this university are being called in by various organizations. The excellence of the university, hence, becomes a part of the students’ name and the student becomes an efficient professional in his latter life. Hence, I have chosen this university for the knowledge it conveys and the experiences it transfers in the students. The course outline and the information provided regarding the course clearly illustrate the reliability of the information and point towards its practical application. Hence, the degree acquired from this university is not only a piece of paper or an addition to the educational achievements but also is an addition to the experience, learning and knowledge of a person. My personal goals are in line with the information and knowledge provided in this course. The theoretical knowledge, illustrations, comprehensive examinations, regular assessments, discussions and personal research will lead me in acquiring the best out of this course. My active participation in all discussions and assessments will lead me to analyze my learning abilities and knowledge enhancement level. The lectures, books, notes and other helpful materials along with the instructor’s guidance will provide in depth knowledge of the complexities of practical life and application of these learned concept in real life. The intellectual growth as a result of completing this course may be analyzed by the practice-oriented problem exercise, where I would use the knowledge and concepts gained and will be able to prove the excellence of my learning abilities. The resolving technique of the problem presented will further widen my experience and I shall be able to understand the practical application of the theoretical knowledge gained in the module. The course will help me in understanding the concepts which are unclear. The assessments will lead to greater creativity in jobs. The professionalism of concepts being taught and the application of those concepts in different scenarios will lead to an in depth understanding of the situations that may arise in future. The level of critical thinking and the ability of application of theories into practice is being increased and the intellectual abilities are, hence, enhanced. Knowing the importance of experience, I have acquired a lot of experience after qualifying for my master’s degree. It has always been my dream to complete my doctorate in clinical psychology so that i can use my knowledge to enlighten people about its importance. I am currently working as a community therapist in Miami, Florida and have learned the concepts of psychotherapy more clearly. I have enhanced my social skills by working full time and have helped many individuals in relieving the psychotic symptoms. I have previously worked as a Group Therapist, Psychotherapist and Rehabilitation counsellor which has all helped me to widen my knowledge. With the diversified workforce and student population, comes the concept of multiculturalism. I have developed a cultural profile of US and have gained sufficient knowledge of the US culture. My personal interest in learning languages and cultural values of different people has helped me in gaining knowledge of people’s beliefs and expectations. The key to success in any field is good communication skills and strong professional relationships with people. Having acquired the knowledge of people’s expectations and culture, I have the expertise to communicate and interact with them efficiently. My interest and continuous association with the educational environment enables me to follow the rules, respect other’s values, integrate in the culture of the educational institute and learn in the diversified classroom environment.
