Uber is one of the major transportation network companies in the world. Spotify, on the other hand, is one of the major audio-streaming companies in the world. Spotify ensures its subscribers have access to millions of songs from various artists. Uber continues to be a market leader in the transport and logistics industry where it offers customized rides for its users. The alliance between these two major companies will benefit them in various ways. Spotify will be able to establish a connection with more millennials since a significant proportion of this population demographic uses Uber.

 In the past, Google used to rely on test scores and GPAs during the hiring process. It was expected that individuals with good test scores or impressive GPAs would be able to perform well at their new designations. The company also used brainteasers during the interview process but later realized that they were a waste of time as they did not help in predicting an individual’s performance at the job (Steiber & Alänge, 2013). After some time, the company realized that an individual’s academic performance was completely unrelated to how the individual performed at work.

The new method enabled the company to analyze the problem-solving and analytical skills of the new hires and therefore ensured the company only hired the right personnel. The new hiring process was made possible by Google’s data-crunching abilities.

The process was arrived at by analyzing different sets of data about the company’s employees. Through data crunching, the company now knows how many candidates it needs to interview for any post that becomes available. It also understands which individuals make better interviewers and lastly, it understands the attributes which lead to success at the company.
