Extract of sample "Reverse Logistics"

It impresses me that manufacturers can and do partner with third party logistics (3PL) providers. This supply chain strategy raises questions on whether reverse logistics could be considered part of the growth strategy with regard to branding implications in global firms. Autry et al (2000) suggest that one of the most effective strategies for enhancing the performance of reverse logistics is to improve communications and build dynamic relationships. On the other hand, Kevin explores the considerations that should be taken into account in reverse logistics such as the cost implications of processing returned items especially when returned goods are damaged or outdated.

This is especially important considering that processing returned items create additional costs. While customers are allowed to return products, the major challenge is whether internal strategies implemented by companies to reduce logistical costs have been effective. After reading Kelvin's work, it is not clear if reverse logistics strategies should differ by sales volumes or the size of companies. This is a critical aspect that relates to the association between sales volumes and performance of reverse logistics.

Although Kevin has done well in demonstrating how reverse logistics work, the quality of the article could be improved by stating clearly the specific strategies and tactics that companies should focus on to manage the flow of returned products and the anticipated cost savings.
