His version of the performance of the play gave a unique, yet a delightful touch to the script that it made the theatre lovers to reenact the play in Stravinsky’s method. However, the 1992 performance was not limited for the spectators who attended the theatre, but was preserved on camera by Julie Taymor.
George Tsypin designed the whole set for the enactment of Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex. Stage is perhaps the most difficult place for enactment of a script. Unlike movies neither the directors nor the actors have the free of retaking a particular shot or deliver a dialogue. Everything needs to be in shape and should ease through the motion. Stage is considered to be the guild for actors, where they set aside the fear of being seen by other eyes, and they learn how to absorb the details of a character. Drama is one of the oldest ways of entertaining the masses. In the days before the invention of television, and cinema, it was the stage that narrated the fiction to many. Stage design, lighting, sound effects, and costume designing are some of the most important elements that set the scene, and entraps the audience to live the moments, and witness the action, exchange of words, and momentum of the script.
The Chorus lies at the heart of Greek theatre. It acts as a moderator, as well as a commentator of the tragedy. However, Stravinsky’s was bold enough to set aside the legacy of Greek, and moved on to control the influence of the chorus on stage, it seems like as if the director has mechanized the chorus. 1957 production of Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex, the chorus in the play represented the people of the city, chanting and lively. While in case of Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex, the role of chorus was to maintain a constant motion, the notes of the chorus were rhymed at 6/8 constantly throughout the play. Further, the lively chorus of original version was turned to mummies.

As the audience, we are aware of the whole back story that would lead to the tragedy itself.
