The director of the movie did a good job of creating comic situations using funny encounters of the film characters. The film is a ridicule of film industry in Hollywood. The funniest part of the movie was its initial part. It is easy to forget that one is watching the opening part of the movie after being carried away by funny events. The funny part of the movie shifts the audience attention away from its structure and themes. Comedy begins when the characters are giving phony previews of the movie they were supposed to shoot in the jungle. The logo of familiar motion picture studios is a proof that the film is a reflection of film industry in Hollywood as such Universal. Many people have also noticed how the movie is making fun of Hollywood studios and actors. For instance, some think that the characterization of the fat man in the film was inspired by Murphy’s work. The film is a multiple character comedy since each person has been represented in hilarious ways (Powers 1).
Another concept worth mentioning in the film is the use of naturalism that is one of the visual culture theories. Naturalism is a traditional movie idea that was used in the 19th century by in France. Movie creators in Hollywood rarely use the concept. An example of naturalism ideas employed in the movie is when the characters in the jungle are captured secretly. Many people have noticed the similarity between this film and other films such as The Butcher. The naturalism idea was also used in The Butchers that was produced in Theatre Libre. The characters in the movie were not always facing the audience. In Tropic Thunder, characters such as Lazarus acted based on naturalism.
