The other part of the movie follows an interesting story of moving her coffin back towards Havana. The body of Yoyita needed to be transported to Havana so as to be buried. Logically, Georgina was expected to hire a hearse for the journey, but Adolfo her husband had another idea. According to him, the fuel cost would be distributed once the Yoyita’s body is transferred from one car to another at the border of each province. Even though no individual supported the idea, he still had the law to himself. This necessitated Candido, Georgina, and Adolfo to begin the slow journey to Havana together with the drivers of the truck (Mariano and Ramon). This paper explores the dramatic potential and the theme of the entertaining movie responding to questions in a chronological order.
From this movie, Ramon is related to witchcraft. This is so because Ramon was in no mood to drive out of the commitment and was extremely superstitious. He believed that whenever lights went out in the process of viewing, it displayed a bad omen. Additionally, he made some offering towards Oggun, his saint patron in Santeria, blew cigar smoke to the truck, and sprayed rum on the truck tires. According to him, this was meant for safety and luck. He performed all his rituals even though Mariano as a graduate engineer did not want his ‘witchcraft’.
Mariano, on the other hand, was associated with smuggling. Along the way, Mariano and Ramon stopped and loaded some people at the back of their truck for the easy money. This was a government truck, and Mariano was not expected to charge any fee. In this respect, driving the truck made Mariano make money on the black market. Additionally, Mariano bought some garlic with intentions of selling it on the black market when he arrives in Havana.
Mariano is also related to having problems with women.  ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

At the same time, the Cuban Revolution was a direct blow to the United States as, not only was it a nationalist movement for independence from American hegemony but, within a Cold War context, was interpreted as an American loss to the Soviet Union. As much as the Cuban Revolution has been criticised, it is important to acknowledge the fact that US political domination of the island, the overwhelming poverty suffered by the majority and the oppressive and repressive tactics deployed by the US-backed Batista government all ensured the positive reception of the revolution by the majority of Cubans, if not by the United States.
