By doing this particular kind of activity, I deviated from a norm that is usually expected of a person’s public behavior. Logically, the status of “social individual” normally presupposes that they are wearing their clothes in a generally accepted way, that is, one’s garments are put on not on the inner side and the stiches of fabric are invisible. To sum up my experience, I should say that I really felt to be accepted as a deviant when violating the norm, though the people’s reactions varied greatly and my behavior was perceived in different ways.
Speaking about the way I felt while “breaking the norm”, I should note that it was a bit awkward at the very beginning of an experiment, but at a later time I managed to habituate myself to this and tried to be more confident and behave in a usual manner to make the situation look as usual as possible. In this way, I intended to get the most genuine reactions of people, who I am acquainted with as well as those, who are complete strangers to me. So, the hardest part to me was to keep a straight face and show no sign of understanding of violating a norm while going about my usual duties.
Thus, I woke up in the morning, got dressed (inside out) and went downstairs to say good morning to my family. My mother was aware that I was asked to carry out such experiment, which is why her reaction was rather predictable and wittingly faked-up. That is why I decided not to take it into account.

The attainment of an equal society for women in Africa has been a gradual but progressive process as a number of countries currently formulate and implement policies that are pro-women in nature (Jing 21). This is something we are taught since our childhood through education, and is inculcated in our personalities even if not taught explicitly. There are some manners that our parents teach us; some are taught by teachers; and, still there are some that we come to know ourselves when we observe them around us
As Michel de Certeau said, in order to see the city, there has to be means to satisfy it (92). True enough, the park reflects New York with its diversity of establishments and amenities that it leaves no wonder why the place is easily filled up with visitors in an instant.
The instigating factor of embarrassment is the unwritten standards set by the society or group of individuals with whom the subject believes he belong. Violation of this standards or norm is usually known due to reactions received by the subject. However, there are times wherein the subject feels the embarrassment even prior to receipt of any reaction from others.
Fuqua (123) indicates that the Korea government is aware if they do not recognize the deal they are being offered by US administration all they have to do is to reject the deal. The North Korea’s nuclear weapons program is a threat to South Korea, and the rest of East Asia and represents a significant future threat to the broader global community of nations.
For this assignment, I chose to break a norm in a familiar setting, where we would be expected to be fully aware of the expected norms. The setting I chose was the grocery store. By the time we are in college, we are cognizant of the behavior expected in a shopping setting.
The author of the text claims that carrying flags is nothing new in this country, where flags are carried to denote a special event taking place, loyalty, patriotism and even special circumstances that need to be addressed. However, there are flags that are not common to the eyes of the people, and some are not even known to the people for the best of reasons.
