Kendall County is located west of Florida Turnpike and it boarders with Miami – Dade Country of Florida. It covers an area of 9.6 square kilometers of land and 0.78 square kilometers of water (Scheid and Brown, 2010). According to the 2000 census results, Kendall County registered a population of 38,034 persons among which 11,759 living in households while 7,807 lived in the CDP. The young adults and youths mainly constitute the larger part of the population. As such, the paper seeks to analyse the factors that may contribute to problems related to drug abuse while drawing a possible solutions that can be implemented. The county is comprised of people belonging to different races with whites forming a larger population. Of the 11,758 households, 49.6% live with their children of the ages under 18 years, 58.8% of the population are married couples living together, 18.5% comprise of males living without wives, and 16.6% of the population is comprised of non-families. 11.8% and 2.5% of the population comprise of individual households and people living alone respectively. The other percentage is comprised of people aged 65 years and above.
The study of socioeconomic needs of Kendall County reveals that there are more women than men the county is comprised of poorly educated people. About 45% of the population has no schooling history; 33% have high diploma education, and 16% have college education. Only 35% of the population is in the workforce.
