The Marxist theory implies that there is a continuous conflict between the classes (class conflict). The conflict is based on economic deprivation and exploitation of proletariat class by the bourgeoisie. It results in a class struggle between workers and the capitalists. Marx proposed that the level of exploitation determines the level of dissatisfaction among the workers, i.e., immiseration. Marx further explained that the workers ought to develop class-consciousness and realize the exploitation imposed by the elite class through the existing system and should strive to throw out the system. Carl Marx explains the crime phenomenon in terms of class conflict. He exerts that crime is a violent form of deviance committed to free themselves from the exploitation of the elite capitalists (Leschied, 2007; Miller & Lynam, 2001). The theory says that inequality lead to frustration, which leads to distortion of self-image that ultimately turns into crime.
