Apparently, discussed articles were chosen for emotional reasons, not for their rational relevancy. There is also an article on opening page coming from Washington, and thus, can be considered as national news. Yet, a topic of the article is an elopement of Mr. Buchanan, a chief. It demonstrates how patriarchic and traditional at the same time New York society is. It requires observations of traditions and norms of behavior, especially from authoritative social members who are considered to be “examples”.
