The author seems to be bias and may negatively impact on the increasing number of men who have tummies. It is important to consider the interest of the audience before criticizing some subjects with no justifiable reason. The argument that many women are attracted to the muscular men with slim stomachs must not always be right. Some women are also attracted to men with tummies and fatty bodies.
I agree with the argument that anybody can control the looks and appearances of their body. The body works and grows according to the dietary intakes (Strickland). Most of the obese and overweight people have the tendency of consuming diets with high levels of sugar and fats. The bodily transformation explained in Strickland’s article is also a good basis for an explanation of the nutritional impact on the body.
In Coffey’s article, it is argued that obesity is a result of careless diets. Eating and drinking must always be regulated in order to maintain the ideal body (Coffey). It is also important to check the intake of drugs and other chemicals that may impact on bodily functions. The statement made by Coffey in her article is important because it helps to guide the audience on how to manage one’s diet by taking regular exercise. The moment that the author started exercising, she lost more than half of her body weight (Coffey). However, I disagree that being obese and fatty gives individuals the physical strength to work and reason. The obese and overweight people may imagine that they are more powerful than the slim and the average people, but this is not always the case. Obesity and overweight encourage laziness and inactivity of doing things. Through a general observation of the general population, the slim and physically fit individuals are more active than the obese and the overweight.
