Speaking of the reasons why the topic that is being discussed in the article is important from the point of view of sociality, one should point out that it involves discussion of such issues as justice, racism, discrimination, inequality as well as security. Indeed, in spite of the fact that the era of segregation ended, African Americans still feel themselves under the pressure of racism and recent events of the way mostly white police officers treat African American criminals argue that the former might use excessive force because of racial biases. The whole idea of Hands up, Don’t shoot movement reflected the fact that this part of the population does not feel secure enough.
There are some larger social factors that should be noted as those which contribute to the problem in question. The disparity of income in the United States is quite high and those people who are at the bottom of society in financial terms often belong to different minorities. As a result, difficult economic state of affairs urges them to be involved in the criminal activity. In other words, while the issue of shooting of Michael Brown might raise some question that may be answered by sociology, it also involves some economic context as well. For example, the majority of the protesters come from the households with low to moderate income, suggesting that are against inequality on various levels: social, economic and so on.
