Furthermore, she feels she is in perfect condition, which may affect her judgment when she is too drunk to drive. The fact that she often drives after alcohol consumption places other drivers at risk which is also why the AUDIT will help determine the frequency of her drinking and the number of drinks she consumes. In addition, it can help illustrate the number of times she drinks more than her average alcohol intake. Based on the information from my friend I would place her as a risky individual. This is because she engages in high risk activities such as driving after she has consumed alcohol. However, I feel she has not yet developed alcohol use disorder as she is not dependent on the substance and consumes alcohol only three times a week not daily. However, she does have a drinking problem and she should reduce her attitude towards alcohol as well as the frequency of consumption.
Her reference to holding her liquor is an area of concern as it clouds her judgment and she may assume she is sober when she has drunk beyond her limitations. The statement may also show the level of tolerance her body has developed due to excessive drinking. Many individuals who drink in excess require larger amounts of alcohol for intoxication. This is not good as it suggests some substantial damage has occurred to her liver, and her body is deteriorating from the alcohol intoxication.
According to different studies carried out on alcohol consumption, females are much less tolerant than men. Regardless of the assumption my friend has on out drinking her friends and holding her liquor, studies show that females metabolize alcoholic beverages differently to their male counterparts (“Differences between men and women”, 2008). ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
