The case analyzed in this paper is about a woman who has undergone interpersonal violence. According to US legal system, domestic violence or interpersonal violence is dealt differently while as per Islamic or Qatari law, interpersonal violence is regarded somewhat ignorable and more of a family issue that should be settled within the family. Authorities are working towards acknowledgement of interpersonal violence as a crime.
The girl named as Fran established a relationship with a boy when she was fifteen years of age. The boy had a family history of abuse as his father used to batter his mother and consequently, they got divorced, all of which put negative impact on the boy’s personality (Fran, 2014). He got imprisoned because of getting in trouble with the police and this imprisoned continued one after another. However, the girl got married to the boy ignoring his family history of abuse and imprisonment sympathizing him for his bad circumstances. He used drugs and got drunk extensively and started abusing Fran physically as well as emotionally. With continuous battering and violence, Fran tried to get rid of him, but he blackmailed her emotionally and they reinitiated their relationship. She got pregnant and he was very much aggressive and violent. He crossed his limits and tried to kill the lady and his unborn son after which, she called the police and got him imprisoned. He was imprisoned for three years and got six years restraining order (Fran, 2014).
The rational choice theory states that people act rationally by committing crime.
