Download file to see previous pages Inevitably, as a learning source, Television has an important role in helping the ‘susceptible and impressionable’ minds of children in developing certain social roles and behavior traits, which surprisingly affects them the whole of their lives, even as adults.
Cinderella is the child of a widowed lord who marries Lady Tremaine, a proud and confident woman with two daughters (Drizella and Anastasia). Inconspicuously, Tremaine and her daughters are envious of Cinderella’s beauty from the start but it is clearly depicted when her father dies and they start mistreating her by forcing her to become the maid (Perrault, 1). However, Cinderella turns out to be a sympathetic and humble person, making friends with the animals and in one particular instance; Tremaine punished her because of associating with them. The King and the Grand Duke organize a ball in effort to find a suitable wife for prince charming and every damsel could attend; Cinderella gets permission to attend after she had finished her chores.
On her way to the ball, her stepsisters, out of jealousy, ripped Cinderella’s dress to rags. Due to embarrassment and discomfort, she runs to the garden where her Fairy Godmother provides her with another dress and another carriage. Fortunately, Cinderella is the only maiden that the prince falls in love with and they dance throughout the castle grounds; however, her problems continue to add up as she is forced to leave the castle at midnight (Perrault, 1). On her way out, she drops one of her glass slipper while fleeing, which is the only thing that the Prince would use in finding her. Just before the end of the movie, her stepmother tries to stop her from being married to the Prince, and locks up Cinderella. However, eventually Cinderella is able to get out before the Prince and maiden leave.
