These diversities meant that the Indonesians had to work to unite the country into one single, purposeful and united country. Concerning the struggle, the achievements and the stride made can be considered a success.
A new and a strange concept that was not thought to ever exists, the concept of an “Indonesian race," developed rapidly across the country. This occurred since the state could not withstand the bright and promising beginning in the early twentieth century that mainly focused on self-appreciation. There was a subjugation of expressions both in local and regional on the issues of ethnicity that were successful to the notion of a united state of Indonesia, these issues contributed the development of the strange concept that revolved around “Indonesian race.”
From the article, the question of the Indonesian state and a putative nation arose because of a gradual development that was observed in the two decades of the twentieth century of what was considered an indigenous concept of “Indonesia." Another issue that drove the need of an Indonesian state, according to its thinkers, was the desire to have a political entity that was independent of the Dutch government. Indonesia as a country, therefore, owes its presence of existence to the Dutch colonial government back in a late nineteenth century. The Indonesia thinkers, therefore, conceptualized the idea of an independent state that would not be dependent on the Dutch. They foresaw a system of politics that was many ways different from their colonialist
