Social workers face the problem of children indulging in risky behaviors and while addressing these children, the findings of study can be beneficial for the social worker to take into consideration the familial practices in which a child is being raised. The researchers tried to address questions including which risky behaviors are most commonly studied in connection with family meals and the number of times the researcher were able to find a statistical relationship between both the variables.
The authors clearly state that a formal literature review was conducted for the study and the number of sources that were used to perform the study were sufficient and were in compliance with the standards of PRISMA. The researchers used conceptualization process to clearly define the boundaries of the variables which made it easier to understand the study. The author used research that between the time periods of 1990 to 2014 which met the criteria of relevance of the literature search. In systematic reviews those articles are considered as relevant that are 10 years older to the present period till the present period. The total articles included in the study totaled to 14 articles and these were all relevant to the present study. Those articles that were not empirical in nature, were not published in English Language and did not focused on the population of US were excluded as they were not relevant. All the cited articles that were used in the literature were peer-reviewed as well as from academic journals such as articles from PubMed.
The study was exploratory in nature as no bias of the researcher was involved and only the results from researches were used to perform this research.
