The American society is structured in such a way that the whites occupy the highest strata with other group such as Blacks, Asian and Latinos occupying the lower strata (Wise, 2003). Therefore, people live in the social stratified life that perpetuates discrimination while sharing opportunities in school and government positions. Wise says that the affirmative action was established to delineate white European from servitude, but left blacks to continue serving as a slave in the plantations and farms of European colony in America. Since then the affirmative action has remained in force and what has been extended to the blacks is a mere act of prejudice.
The racial preference toward the white people in term of housing policies, naturalization and schools policies, has allowed specific group to advances their economic situation and leaving the others to live in poverty. Through these policies, the segregated groups have to use any necessary way to ensure that they get part of the national resources. However, because they are locked out of the policies guideline, their efforts are despised and labeled as crime. The social program set for whites are not to challenges because they attract punishment. According to Wise, white student are favored more than black student to join first choices of their preferred colleges more than blacks. Therefore, such policies perpetuate discrimination and labeling blacks as less qualified compared to the white student. Moreover, more of the habits that come out of necessity to feed, to better housing, to school among the poor are challenges as deviant because they originate from the less privileged in the society.
According to Wise the affirmative action for white people amount to racial profiling and which is against the basic rights provided in the constitution.
