The united rebel groups: Ahrar al-Sham, moderate Syrian Revolutionary Front, the new Aleppo group known as the Mujahedin Army, and the allied Islamic Front were fighting ISIL to reclaim various cities and towns from them. This intra-rebel fight had stretched to the city of Raqqa.
In this article, it`s evident that Chechens is among other groups fighters, currently fighting alongside Islamist groups inside Syria. The Chechens fight alongside the al-Qaeda-associated group; ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) as well as the JAN (Jabhat al-Nusra), al-Qaeda’s branch inside Syria, whereas experiencing tensions and fractures with these groups, as everyone seeks to create its own caliphate inside the region. The existence of Chechen fighters inside Syria is associated to al-Qaeda and its undergrowth in Syria.
However, the continuing dispute between JAN and ISI and other concerns compelled some of Chechen mujahideen to isolate and form independent fighting battalions and factions of their own whereas retaining complete co-ordination with the al-Qaeda groups in a military engagement against Syrian regime.
This article points out that U.S is secretly supporting Syria rebels with funds. As Western leaders openly push Syrian regime and opposition to Geneva II peace conference which began some time back in Washington has also engage quietly in supporting moves by Qatar and Saudi Arabia to offer weapons and cash to the rebel groups so as to fight al-Qaeda’s ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams). This source alleges the US was handing out cash in dollars to rebel groups well equipped to fight the extremists. This article also confirmed that America was offering non-lethal aid to the rebels.
