Download file to see previous pages... It is said that land degradation, deforestation, excessive urbanization and air pollution are major environmental challenges. To these are added two others: water depletion and loss of biodiversity.
Since 1960, we have doubled the amount of humans to reach 6,100 million people and the growth has occurred mostly in the poorest countries. Consumer spending has risen by more than twice since 1970, and these escalations have occurred primarily in the richest countries. In this period, we have managed to create wealth to a phenomenal scale, however, half of humanity is living on less than two dollars per day. Although we have learnt how to harness resources to suit our needs, we do not know how to manage the waste that results: for example, carbon dioxide emissions multiplied by twelve between 1900 and 2000. With these processes, we are responsible for altering the climate of the world.
Currently, each of the parts of the natural world and the human world is linked with all the others. Local decisions have global repercussions. Global policies, or lack thereof, affect local communities and living conditions. Human beings and the natural world has changed and been changed by it, now, human development prospects depend on our wisdom about driving this relationship
Since the advent of man populations were increasing gradually during this time there were no problems just coexistence among men, plants and wild animals, but as you progress in technological development, began a rate of exponential growth and disappeared plants and animals. Forests were removed, dried wetlands, rivers were polluted and planted lots of land, which to forget the factor of land use, did not give the desired output. Each break the ecological balance disturbances creating serious problems for the survival of the vast majority of native species.
