Ms Cooper was a great sociologist who left remarkable and undeniable achievements in the field of sociology. She had a vast experience of studying and observing social behavior of the human beings. She was called as the mother of “Black Feminism” as she gave black women a foothold to not only survive but live and work independently and efficiently with pride (Gale, 2006).
Her greatest contribution in the study of human social behavior (sociology field) was the eviction of gender issues in America. This issue was evicted after she provided the splendid work known as “A Voice from the South: By the Black Women of the South”. Female distinguishing thinkers’ thoughts are ignored and overlooked often, but are of great importance for a whole new way of thinking and observing. It is an act of great courage and honor to think and work for a smaller part (females) instead of the counterparts (males) that Cooper stepped ahead for.
The era she was born in had been the most eroded time span for the females; especially for the Black Women. The gender issues were common, magnified and highly adopted among the inhabitants of the male societies. She, unlike other feminist theorists, focused and emphasized on the themes of evolution and progress. She was of the view that society survives and prospers on the basis of domination and equilibrium, and they both are not without conflicts. Anna was of the opinion that power leads to control and to have power, the need of physical strength is as necessary as the psychological wellbeing. She kept emphasizing on the need to change the norms, improving communication, lightening the minds and thoughts of women, provision of a distinct vision, broadening of thoughts and the strength of united struggles.
