She had opted to enter into another relationship. The guy on the other hand, was not willing to let her go that easily. But she said nothing could change her mind, she had already made up her mind to quit.
In the lyrics all I have, the artist has used metaphors in the eighth stanza first line “it makes a cat nervous, the thought of settling down.” In this metaphor, cat is used to refer to the man who was always on the move while the lady spent lonely nights waiting for the man to come home. A simile has been used in stanza eight the fourth line” as cocky as it sounds”. It shows how much authority that the man had towards the lady. Rhyming has been used in the lyrics. In stanza eight lines one and two, the words that have been rhymed are (down and town). Stanza six, line three, and four (bad and mad), and stanza nine first line and second line (the words are plying and gaming).
A woman in the lyrics is seen as a difficult creature. She seems to be an independent thinker, and when she has made up her mind nothing will change her. The man is seen as a chauvinist. He practices his social powers according to Webers’ views on exercise of power under social power. He says that if somebody is above you socially then he can exercise power over you, and the man feels that he is above the lady. This can be shown from the song, where the man is telling the lady that he can’t believe that she can leave that way; he wanted the lady to humble herself so that at least they talk over the issue.
Weber, in his attempt to make sense from the rational basis on choices of behavior, said that the choice on how to behave socially is determined by the structure of relationships that we develop with other people.
