The first article is Disability studies: Expanding the parameters of diversity by Simi Linton, Susan Mello and John O’Neil. The second article is Reconsidering the Stigma of Physical Disability: Wheel Chair Use and Public Kindness by Cahill Spenser and Eggleston Robin. Finally, the third article is Becoming Visible: Lessons in Disability by Brenda Jo et al.
In Disability studies: Expanding the parameters of diversity by Sami Linton, Susan Mello and John O’Neil, the authors examined the various types of mental and physical disabilities and then evaluated the social and political perception to the particular deformities in the society. The article addresses disability as both social and political issue. The authors of this article contend that in society, different types of deformities are perceived differently and this determines how the affected persons are integrated in a particular community. I recommend this article because it informs the students that besides the medical aspect of disability, social and political aspects play a critical role in determining how the affected people are regarded in the society.
In this article, the authors evaluated negative perceptions associated with disabled people using ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
