Teenagers getting out of high school are often very ready to move on to the next step of their lives, but this next step is not always welcome when it means yet more years of sitting in classrooms. Muller argues that teenagers inevitably pick one of only two options – the classroom or the convenience store, stuck in a job that pays just enough to live on and not enough for any extra. They are subsequently stuck in these types of positions for the rest of their lives as they cannot afford a college education on their own. At the same time, many teenagers are also ready to change the world, sure that they can do things better than their parents. Many don’t volunteer because they are unaware of the volunteer options that are available to them. Thus, opening up various social services to volunteers would relieve the system while providing teenagers with a means of acting on their energetic dreams to have a positive effect in their community.Many teenagers dread jumping from high school to college because they aren’t sure what they want to do with the rest of their lives. Because society expects them to do something productive at this point in their lives. As Muller points out, offering them numerous volunteer opportunities would provide them with this productive activity while also providing them with valuable work-related skills and giving them the time to think about what they want for themselves or discover activities and interests that could lead to brilliant careers. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
