Flexibility is one of leadership skills need in order to respond to changes from outside organizations. This helps leaders to absorb the impacts of such changes and adjust accordingly. Analytical skills are important in responding to changes from outside organizations. Leaders use analytical skills to examine the nature of such changes and the conditions that they need to create in order to assimilate and accommodate them. They also use these skills to assess the likely outcomes of taking in those changes. In order to envision and instigate change organizations, leaders need team building skills. These are important because they help leaders to mobilize employees to work towards the envisioned change goals. Communication skills are crucial for successful planning and implementation of change because they help leaders to articulate their ideas clearly without ambiguity (Northouse, 2013).
Contingency model would explain flexibility because it explains that no leadership style works for all situations. Using contingency model, flexibility in leaders would be explained that leaders pick on the most suitable plan of action by regarding the attributes of his or her followers and the nature of change.
