The three critical elements of learning are that it must be based on experience, must result in a distinct change in behavior and must be relatively consistent. These elements were clearly seen in the fact that Tom felt that he grew not only intellectually but also emotionally and socially in his high school period (Grison et al, 2015). As a result of the fact that his high school was characterized by students from different parts of the country and in a way, this was a way for him to escape from his constricting and limiting neighborhood. Not only did it provide a wide and interesting environment for studying but also enabled him to learn how to interact with different people. It was at the high school that Tom was provided with the right academic tools to stand up for minority communities (Grison et al, 2015). ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

The story of my life

...?Erica Torres English Com 2 The Story of My Life Life is a bed of roses. Whoever said that must be out of his mind. From what I have been through, I can say that life is more like a bed of thorns, with maybe one or two roses. I was a sole daughter of Hispanic parents, born in New York City. I could not surmise if it is because of my ethnic origins or due to diverse cultural upbringing that my life seemed to be chaotic at the onset. I grew up exposed to dysfunctional relationships where both parents exhibit frequent fights, one which led to a plane destined to Dominican Republic, to my grandparents’ home. The change in culture and familial environment did...

The Story Of My Life

... The Story Of My Life My earliest childhood memories are of sunny mornings in our little thatched roof cottage, with mom at the stove making breakfast and our nanny at the kitchen table besides the fire, brandishing the toasting fork with a smoldering slice of freshly baked bread slices. Mornings used to be the same each day except on Sundays when Daddy was home. If I close my eyes now, I can still vividly smell the thick aroma of bacon and butter that permeated our cottage each morning, I can still clearly hear the dishes clattering in the sink and my little brother yelling and running wildly across the backyard. My mom was very...

A real story happened in my life

...Module A Real Story Happened In My Life When growing up, I experienced many difficulties in one of the most populated cities in Chile, Valparaiso. However, I loved life at Valparaiso as it has a rich history and a deep culture that its inhabitants have strived to preserve over the years. This was made worse by the fact that I am a blind student and it was difficult for me to get the best education. I always felt like I was not living life to my fullest and that there were inadequate opportunities in my mother country to become the best I could be. This essay explores how an opportunity to study in the US changed my life and gave me an opportunity to give...

The Story of My Life

...College Essay Affiliation: The story of my life is unbelievable and when I happen to tell it to people, nobody believes me but it is true. I was born in one of the less fancy neighborhoods in the infamous Queens area of New York. I cannot say I was born poor but neither was I born rich. Life was the usual for any toddler and I got good things such as toys, got to go to Disneyworld (or at least the version of it then) and even attended a private kindergarten and middle school. All this however tumbled down with the separation of my biological parents. My father was the sole bread winner and my mother was just a housewife whose main role was to take care of myself and my young sister. With...

A Story about My Life

...A Story about My Life Born and raised in Qatar, the United s is a foreign land to me. My is MohamedIm, a name which I was given by my father because of the glory he saw in me when I was born. Mind you, this name is derived from the founder of the religion that I believe in together with my family, Islam. The glory that my father saw in me when I was born has lived with me for many years and it follows me wherever I go, enabling me to adapt well even in environments that would appear strange to me. When I came to the United States about a year ago, I looked almost lost. The culture here is much different from that in Qatar. The food, religion, language and socialization differ to a great extent. People...
