Therefore, the children will probably be confused and religious upbringing is likely to lack in such a family. Nonetheless, the world is changing and many people have a better understanding of a number of religions. Therefore, cross religious marriages are becoming a norm by the day.
In the case of Jamillah Salama, we see her experiencing a number of problems. She gets isolated from her mosque because she married someone who was not a Muslim. In addition, when she felt that her husband was unfaithful she had no one to tell and her religious believes could not assist her because she was discriminated. She also has no control of her children because maybe she did not raise them on the grounds of any religious believes, moreover, because of the different religious understanding between the mother and the father. In the article, a number of people involved in cross religious marriages face similar problems. Thus, before an individual is engaged in a cross religious marriage the individual should have a clear understanding of what is to come in the marriage.
The article is about marital problems occurring in midlife and how therapist can use the information to conduct their sessions. Marital problems in mid life may be caused by financial problems, dealing with children and sexual issues. The problems have different impact on different people. Communication, commitment, decision making and emotional intimacy also add up to the problems. The problems may result to an individual to lack faith in any form of marriage and other times to feel distant with children.
