Some important sources of direction for the nurses include Nursing’s Social Policy Statement, Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice and The Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (Finkelman & Kenner, 2010). These documents define basic professional cases and explain how to solve them within the limits of morality and ethics. State boards of Nursing operate in a specific state whose task is to monitor the working of the nurses in that particular state and it directs the nurses to meet the responsibility of protecting the public and providing them with the best form of healthcare (Finkelman & Kenner, 2010). The professional nurse is responsible for initiating and updating the clinical care plan, the process of care provision so that it can be used for evaluation and guidance for client care. Nursing case management basically focuses on managing a group of clients and the role of nursing case managers are collaboration, identification, and evaluation of patient’s possible outcomes with respect to a certain time frame and the application of continuous quality improvement analysis (Masters, 2005). Different measures are being taken in the nursing education, research and practice to make sure that the nurses are equipped with the up-to-date knowledge to treat and manage their patients.
