In the twentieth century, music experienced a new freedom along with broad experimentation through newer styles and types that were able to challenge the rules which were accepted in the previous eras. The advent of electronic instruments together with the synthesizer was a source of revolution for popular music and increased the rate of development of new types of music. In this era, one musician could teach the songs to another and each musician would consequently share with members of his respective community. This kept the history alive while at the same time that the music element remained and enriched, meaningful and directing element in the day to day lives of the community. Some of the composers of this era included Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Bela Bartok and Igor Stravinsky among others.
