Download file to see previous pages I love Franz Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden”. After listening to the Alban Berg Quartet play this piece, I could find no faults. I cannot tell you much about the musicians. My bad habit of closing my eyes whenever I am listening to classical music prevents me from describing the musicians themselves. However I can describe the wonderful music this Quartet played. The Berg Quartet mastered this piece. I have nothing but praise for this concert. I listened to this Quartet online. After opening the clip, I closed my eyes and listened to the opening of ‘Allegro’. The three main key ranges of D minor, F major, and A minor were hit perfectly by these musicians. The Cello created dark images in my mind, while the violin and viola placed my nerves on edge. I loved the ups and downs. This piece is a wonderful work of contrasting music between the highs and the lows.
