Elements of style College: There are numerous things that concern me when it comes to grammar and writing. I am now suddenly very aware of it because of the many issues that we could have examined at this week for our discussion. After evaluating the discussion topic, I really deliberated that the use of apostrophes and fragments was the topic that required to be looked at (Strunk, 2012).
The two links that I studied were: “apostrophes are used to indicate possessive” and “sentence fragment fails to be a sentence in the sense that it cannot stand by itself”. Both of these topics really helped in clarifying the yes and no answers to my questions. The significant thing that I think I could develop in my paper would be the improper use of apostrophes and sentence fragments. For instance on bartleby.com there are many mistakes that can compromise the quality of the paper (Strunk, 2012).
With the possessiveness of very many objects being indicated with lack of apostrophe and use of sentence fragments, it sounds irregular and odd. The website was very helpful and useful. I would definitely recommend it to another student to read it. The following is an example of two sentences in one of the paragraphs: “This boat is Peter’s.” This was the first original sentences, and after reading and understanding from the website provided, the first sentence does not sound great (Strunk, 20120.
However, the revised one would sound like this: “This is Peter’s boat.” On the issue of sentence fragments, I found that the original sentence read like this “Working hard into the night in an effort to save his little boat”. After reading this sentence I discovered that something was missing, a noun. A correct sentence would read like this “Peter worked hard into the night in an effort to save his little boat”.

On The Semiosphere by Juri Lotman

...from different eras are laid out in different windows, with texts in known and unknown languages, and instructions for deciphering them, together with the explanatory texts for exhibitions created by guides who map the necessary rules and routes of behaviour for the visitors. If we place into that room still more visitors, with their own semiotic worlds, then we will begin to obtain something resembling a picture of the semiosphere. (Lotman, 213-214). Another interesting argument that Lotman has formulated in the progression of this discourse is that, semiotic systems having a defined grammer get limited by that grammer and develop only slowly inside a semiosphere (Lotman, 214). But, he has said,...

... ID Lecturer Grammar Quiz I have learned that using proper grammar is important for me as I gain knowledge of the language. This is because when one uses correct grammar, nearly all the facets of writing are made use of by the individual. Also I have made sure that I always remain in line with the correct spellings, paragraph formats and punctuation. This is very essential because I explore the nuances related with grammar and how it helps in writing comprehension. The style of writing is something that I pay... ID...

...Exercises and Quizzes al Affiliation Exercises and Quizzes I took three quizzes: the APA Capitalization Quiz, APA Numbers Quiz, and the Passive Voice Exercise (Walden University, 2014). The challenging aspect encountered in the capitalization quiz was discerning the need to capitalize the beginning word in a quoted statement. Concurrently, in the numbers quiz, I made some mistakes in deciding whether to select the numerical number or that which is spelled out in the following situations: exact unit of time, above 10, beginning of a sentence, and exact sums of money. Finally, the passive voice exercise was challenging since I had to re-write the sentence from passive to active voice. In the first five sentences, the passive phrase... and...
